I've noticed that sometimes Socks likes to lick plastic grocery bags if one is on the floor. This seems kind of strange. I don't know why she would do that.

Does anyone have any ideas why she would do that? Could there be something lacking in her diet? :?:

Moe always licks/eats plastic bags. I have to keep all plastic hidden away at all times. She ends up eating entire sections of the bag if I'm not careful. I really don't know why she does it.

Hi. :D Your kitty is just being a normal cat. For some reason a lot of cats like to lick plastic bags and photographs. It's thought that perhaps cats just like to taste the odor that emanates from both plastic bags and photographs. It's also thought that they may just enjoy the texture of these items. So, don't worry your kitty is fine. However, try and keep plastic bags away from your cat, as you don't want them eating the plastic or possibly suffocate while playing inside a plastic bag (it has happened before).

    I got this:

Why does a cat lick photographs or plastic bags?
It has been speculated that they are tasting the slight "odor" that emanates from these products. They may also enjoy the texture of the items on their tongue.

    from this website:

    http://www.xmission.com/~emailbox/whycat.htm

There were many facts on the site that were interesting.

Not too long ago I think vene(?) posted a site with a bunch of interesting cat facts. That bag one may be in there, too.

there is one theory on the plastic shopping bags (I have no idea how true it might be) that the stuff they treat these bags with smell like cat urine - now I don't know about your cats but I've never seen my cats lick urine. And mine also will chew/lick these bags and photos

I once read that if you have a problem with your cat scratching on your furniture, you should cover the funiture with plastic b/c most cats dislike it...

I got confused when i read it, Kyrre loves plastic! He doesn't eat it or chew on it, but he likes to get into plastic bags  (i don't leave them laying around anymore)

Bean loves to lick and chew plastic bags as well...I have to keep them in a drawer out of his reach.

I was really surprised to hear that other people's kitties do this, too. I had no idea it was a common thing among kitties.

Socks has never chewed on or eaten any part of the bags. She only licks them. I don't usually have them on the floor but occassionally if I've put something in one to take somewhere, it may by lying on the floor until I leave.
