Lionhead Missing a Fin

I recently bought a young lionhead that is missing a fin (one of the pectoral fins). I'm not sure as to how much it's affecting him, yet, but he seems to be fat and in good health. My question is, will it only affect his motility, and being that he is currently housed with a male beta, (who currently does not bother him) is he at any risk? We are keeping a close eye on the two of them, and they seem to not mind each too much. Will the missing fin affect my lionhead's lifespan and/or ability to defend himself should the beta turn territorial or aggressive for some reason?? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and wisdom!

    Sincerely,

    Ashley & 'Special Ed'

As long as he's swimming around okay now, I think he should be okay.
