Lots of pit mixes at the SPCA

There are so many pit mixes at my local SPCA and I must say they all seem so sweet and lovable! If I was able to get another dog I would have loved to adopt the 3 month pit x puppy...she was all black with a white bib and a thin white stripe down her nose. She kept licking my face and waggin her tail so hard her entire body was wiggling...my heart was melting. Then there was another one that I was quite fond of. She was a year old Pit/Dalmation x....pure white with black spots on her ears and one big blue eye, her description on their website states that her previous owners were cruel but despite that she is a very happy girl. I've visted both SPCA's this past week and see so many wonderful dogs there...its hard to leave without wanting to take one or more of them home.

Anyway, I just wanted to share the picture of this beauty:

most of the dogs at my area shelter are pit mixes also....3 months ago we went to the shelter just to look...and they had just brought in a litter of puppies the night before from the city.....according to the girl showing us around they were shepard mixed with they didn't know what but you could tell they had pit in them... they were the cutest little babies...my girl just sat there looking at me while all the others were running around crazy...just looking into those big eyes and i knew she had to come home with me....

I have noticed alot of pit mixes at my shelter as well. Only more and more they are not listing pits as one of the breeds. When you can look at these dogs and see they are clearly mixed with pit or full bred. They had a gorgous one the other day but there is no more room at the inn! LOL. Puppy fever is killing me!

We rescued our pittie from our local shelter. She was only four weeks old! We are a licenced dog rescue and visit the shelter often-it is heart wrenching to see all the pits and pit mixes there. (of coarse ALL the dogs break my heart) The picture posted at the top is so beautiful!! I pray that baby got a home! Thanks for posting her pic, and drawing attention to your local shelter. Every little bit helps!!!

My local animal shelter rarely gets pits and pit mixes. Even when they do, they are adopted right away. I have never seen a story on the news about any dog fighting in my city. I ampretty impressed by that. I know many pit owners and they are all very responsible. I think my shelter sees more cats than dogs. Wonder why that is?

I adopted Zoe (Pit/Boxer mix) from our local sheltor back in November. This morning Zoe and I went to get her nails cliped at the vet which is near the sheltor and I noticed the fence was open. I thought it would be neat to bring Zoe in to let them see her. Well they were rude and said they didn't open until 12. I know they see a lot of dogs but they didn't rememeber her or were they the least bit interested in letting me look around. I also wanted to buy some shampoo for Zoe and thought it would be good to buy it from them, but they didn't seem to care. Oh well - I will go back to look at the dogs because its not there fault that the peope that run it are rude but it pissed me off.

I really would like to get another pit or pit/mix, but I have to sell my husband on it.
