mineral buildup on aquarium glass

Does anyone know what to do for the ugly mineral deposits that build up on the aquarium lids and the outside of the tanks? It gets kind of crusty around the lids, and spots the outside of the tanks. I have large cichlids, and they really can splash and make a big mess. Thanks. Nano.

A razor blade generally works pretty good.
