Mittens did it again

    Mittens traumatized herself...again.

She did a similar thing several years ago with a helium balloon. She is still afraid of them.

Yesterday, there was one of those accordian cardboard portfolios lying on the floor that I was getting ready to throw out and Mittens started playing with it. I thought it was cute.

She was pawing at the flap and somehow she got the stretchy string thing caught on her and took off.

She darted downstairs, portfolio chasing after her. She scattered her food bowls, darted back upstairs and into my bedroom, darted into the bathroom, darted into the other bedroom where I finally got the door shut before she got out and got the portfolio off her.

She hid under the bed for a long time after that. Poor Mittens. I felt so sorry for her. She doesn't understand. She thinks something was chasing her around the house.

Poor girl! Artemis did the same thing with a bunch of helium balloons when he was a kitten. Scared himself silly - only to do it again a few hours later!

Poor Mittens! I'm sure she won't be playing with one of those things again!

I hope she's feeling better today.

LOL. Okay, I know I shouldn't be laughing, but it is kind of funny. I can just visualize her running all over the place. I think every single cat I have ever had has had a similar experience at least once. For instance, both Handsome and Romeo would try and squish their bodies into this tiny little basket and of course they would end up with it around their waste, walking around sideways, because they couldn't get the darn thing off. Did they attempt to get into it again? But of course! Cats are so funny.

Like Halaroo, I have had cats who ended up in tangles with those mean helium balloons that are just out to get poor innocent kitties.

Anyway, I am glad Mittens is okay and was not hurt in the process.
