My cat has just broken his toe

My cat broke his toe today! I know there isn't much asides painkillers to help him. Just wondering if anyone has experience of this, and how long it took to heal?

    Thanks.

Oh my goodness. Poor kitty. I've never experience anything like that with my kitties. Are you taking him to the Vet. That's what I would do. They can tell you how long it will take to heal.

Well thankfully my neighbour is a vet at the surgery I go to. She came over tonight and advised I keep him in for now, and take him to the surgery tomorrow, and ask for painkillers. Apparently an xray will only confirm the injury, there is no treatment.

I was just wondering how long the recovery was! No doubt they'll inform me tomorrow, I've just been worrying since he limped in!

Oh no! Poor kitty. How did he injure his toe? I hope he'll bounce back to his old self in no time! :m10:

Ghost had a previously broken toe one his back foot when we adopted him. I don't know how long ago he broke it, but it's still somewhat tender and he can't stretch it out like he can his other toes (looks kind of funny when he spreads out his toes)

I'm not sure how he did it. He just came home at teatime and couldn't walk! He's a lot better today, and is at least putting his foot to the floor. I have noticed he can't stretch it out though, and is still holding it up at times. He's snoozing on the sofa now, lucky chat! He didn't care about getting me up several times last night .. I slept on the lounge floor with him!

Poor guy. Let us know what you find out when you take him to the vet. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

    Hi,

Well the vet can only give painkillers. There's apparently no point in an xray, as this will just confirm the break and there is still nothing more they can do. The little chap is resting a lot, and it's obviously still hurting but he can walk on it a bit now.

I guess it'll take a few weeks before he's back to normal. Will have to get him an extra christmas treat!

my Missy sprained her elbow a few weeks ago. She was given a pain reliever. Now they give a small small small amount of Rimadyl to cats. Did they give you that? It worked really well for Missy but I was nervous using it cause apparently it's just been approved for use in cats. I don't like the stuff.

I wasn't given a painkiller. Because my little Horatio was putting weight on his foot! He's still resting loads though.
