I went to get my neighbors horse out and ride him. All the dogs around know that he don't like dogs. My dog is about 12 or 13 years old. We took her to the vet. She's been there since Sunday afternoon and we don't know what else to do. He said she was traumitized and in a lot of pain. The horse ran over her and stepped on her, he even pawed her head. I don't know what else to do. She's my papaw's friend and he's got lung cancer. What does it all mean? Will she come out of it? Will she get better? Will her leg heal ok?

Horses can do alot of damage to a dog very quickly and visa versa. your very lucky that your ok.

I always encourge people to PLEASE lock or leash their dogs when riding.

A horse has a natural defence against dogs and other preditors. their natural instincts tell them to strike with their front feet and kick with their hind legs. They will often times bite as well.

Smokey my breeding ACD male got kicked in the head here a few months ago and has some serious head trauma and injuries that have left life long problems. He now has to be kenneled and is not allowed out.

It depends really on the types of injuries and the damage that was sustained during the accident.

    Good luck to you.
