My dog has given herself a stay of execution

Can't believe this - it is fate.

I went home for lunch yesterday to check on her and clean her and the floor up - she was dry.

Went home from work expecting 2x the amount of urine on her and the floor and she was dry.

No one was home so I took Sadie out on the deck bawling my eyes out brushing her fur asking her why she wasn't wet...and why does life as to be so unfair. I got her all pretty and fluffy, she sat there watching the woods thinking her mommy was a total ass.

My niece brought my great nephew over to give Sadie a hug (he was Sadie's first baby and when I watched him on weekends Sadie would sit right by him taking her "guarddog" duties seriously). We took Sadie for a little walk and she was doing her Tigger thing.

My husband came home from work and we sat for an hour watching Sadie. This dog can still hear a flea fart, she spots the neighbor's cat an hour before I do - her heart and lungs are strong (checkup a couple of weeks ago).

So I've cancelled her execution and am waiting for a callback from the vet to find out what we have to do to find out what is going on. She also woke up dry this morning. Fate? I believe so.

A note - Sadie does have a hypoactive thyroid and takes Soloxine for it. She's supposed to take two 4mg of this medication daily. When she first started on it I noticed her leaking a bit more than normal so I cut the dosage back...leaking subsided. I mentioned it to a vet (there are 3 there and one I would prefer if I had a cow or horse and he's the one I talked to) he said to not cut her dosage back...I still left it cut back. Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago and her thyroid counts were really low and that could cause seizures so I put her back on the correct dosage at that time.

Monday night I cut her dosage back again figuring what the hell if she was going to be going over the Bridge what difference did it make....I honestly believe it's the Soloxine but I can't leave her counts that low.

So after I talk to our beloved vet at that office I'm calling the holistic vet she used to go to for chiropractic work to see if there might be an alternative.

Today is a good day :D

I'm very happy for Sadie and your family, Mary! That's great news. Hopefully this holistic vet will be able to sort out her problem and get her back to normal soon. She's still got many more years in her! Please keep us posted! I was expecting a sad post today....

Hi Mary. I was trying to reply to your other 'quiet post' yesterday, but I was having log in problems. Anyway, very glad that she's not going to rainbow bridge today. I forgot how old she is. I wish her all the best and I hope she has many more years of good health.

Sadie dawg is 10 years old...old for a Shepherd but not so old she can't make it a little while longer. I'll try to get a picture of her tonight (she hates the camera) to show how alert and bright she is. I get out that camera and she literally hides her head

And YES I BELEIVE IT'S FATE! I know when my Nala was so sick and i had her tummy drained i called the vet every hour to see how she was doing (i know i'm a pest) but i had a really bad feeling they said she did great everything went well i went to pick her up and was waiting in the lobby for her they went to put her leash on her and she collasped and passed on she waited for me to get there to say good bye to me. I was so exctied when they told me she was doing great i almost left work earlier to go get her but i got stuck at work and actully got there about 10 min later then i had planed but i'm very glad for that or she would have passed in my car and i dont know what i would have done then.

    Sorry just wanted to share.

I remember that Rene...Sadie had her belly tap done right around the same time and I was afraid she'd do the same as Nala - Sadie has gotten puffy again and I was thinking belly tap but then I remembered Nala

Hi Mary i think Nala's belly tap went fine but she had hepitias and i think that is what got the best of her. the first time i nursed her back to health and it cost me around 1500.00 and then she took meds for about 4 years and every once in a while i could tell she didnt feel good so the vet would tell me to give her predinzone (sp) again. I think this last time it was just two much for the rest of her body to handle even tho i spent 735 on meds and ultrasound it was to much that time. I think it would have gone fine but she was really sick when i FINALLY got enough money to do the belly tap. I always call her my million dollar dog cuz about a year ago i added up my vet bills in the past year and half and i had spent a little over 7,000 on her and way more on her over this last year but she was well worth it.
