Hello everyone, it's been a little while since I've been on.

Can anyone tell me why my dog Sugar whenever she is in my room laying on the floor (carpet floor) beside me, will often times stand up and begin clawing at the floor intensly sniffing it as she does, as if she is trying to dig out of my room! She will do this for as long as 2 or 3 minuetes but usually not any longer than a few seconds. After she is done, she just tuns around and lays back down. Its like she is trying to make the floor softer or or somthing. She will use both paws and the claw claw claw claw claw as if she was trying to run into the ground or somthing. Its not hurting anything but I just wondered why she does this.

Has anyone else encountered this problem before? Thanks a bunch!

my dog ranger used to do it on his bed to get all of the stuffing in it arranged exactly where he wanted it, but i don't know why your dog is doing it on the carpet.

    lol, I can picture that.

Also another thing, somtimes in colder whether when we put a bunch of pillows and blankets in the dog houses in the morning we will find them mysteriously removed and kicked out of the house and laying on the patio.

There are several schools of thought on this type of behavior. One is that, in the wild, dogs needed to scratch all the snakes were away from the area where they wanted to bed down. Another is that they are indeed trying to make the area "softer" and more comfortable. In any case, its normal behavior. I've had several dogs that did it.

I HOPE there's not any snakes in my room. I wonder if it just doesn't like my carpet or somthing...

    POMERANIAN:

Breed of toy dog developed from the same sled-dog ancestors as the Keeshond,Samoyed, and Norwegian elkhound.

It is said to have been bred down in size from a 30-lb (14-kg) dog in the duchy of Pomerania in the early 19th century. Spirited but docile, it has a foxlike head and small, erect ears. Its long coat, especially full on the neck and chest, is white, black, brown, or reddish brown. It stands about 6-7 in. (14-18 cm) and weighs about 3-7 lbs (1.5-3 kg).

My Poms do that too just to make things just right so they can lay down comfortably. Here are pics of my Pomeranians.

Here is Hunter...........He is a white Pom.
