My dog's fur is changing color--please help!

I have a male toy poodle who was "apricot" when I got him as a puppy. Once he lost all of his puppy fur, he became a light cream (almost white) color. He is now 7 y/o and I have recently noticed that the hair on his back is turning back to a dark color. I asked the vet about it and he claims this is nothing to be concerned about. His recent check up and blood work showed absolutely no problems. Any thoughts??

 

It sounds like he is just changing color. You could call another vet or a poodle club and ask if this is common with poodles. I do know it's normal with a puppy. I thought you were going to say he was starting to go gray now.

 

i think that is normal, we had apricot poodles when I was a kid and they usually did that.
I have also heard that heat/cold affects the hair color too. I think I heard that hear.

my aunty had an apricot poodle puppy and his colour always changed too. he went from apricot, to white and then got tiny black hairs scattered on him when he was old. :kiss_heart: perfectly normal!
