My goal to house train Louis the Yorkie puppy in 14 days

:y_the_best: I'm brand new to this forum and would love to hear any advice and encouragement.

We are a happy home with 3 friendly dogs.

11 week old yorkie puppy, Louis Vuitton
    2 year shitzu/poodle, Bebe
16 week old yorkie/ shiztzu mix, Ralphie Lauren

Bebe is an adult and Ralphie has already been trained after 3 weeks to go outside on the grass.

We live in a place that rains and snows a lot in winters and I prefer to keep Louis dry... So I thought paper training him inside would be a good idea by using puppy pads for the 1st day. Then I changed the puppy pads to outside on the covered porch on days 2 and 3... he's confused now I think.

    Method:
    Puppy pad training
Keep Louis in his laundry basket to sleep and play until he's relieved himself
Eating times 7 am and 7 pm
Use the command "Go to the bathroom"
Applied treats on Day 3 and will continue to
Keep Louis on a leash close to me at all times
Limit carpet contact since he is prone to go on carpet (found this out Day 3)
Watch Louis when he eats on the hardwood floors because he will pee on them

So far here are the results:

Day 1: (PUPPY PADS IN THE BATHROOMS. PUPPY IS STILL WEAK AND COMPLIANT)
    6:45 pm DINNER
    10:00 pm PEE
    10:37 pm POO
    1 am PEE

Day 2 (PUPPY PADS BROUGHT OUTSIDE, STARTING TO NOTICE PROBLEMS)
    9 am wake up PEE
    9:05 FEED
    9:10 POO
    3:00 pm PEED ON COUCH
    4:45 pm PEE + POO
    6:45 DINNER
    7:00 PEE
11:45 PEED ON CARPET(my fault for letting him roam)

Day 3 (WE SPEND TIME OUTSIDE ON PADS AND PUPPY WAITS TO PEE ON CARPET AND EVEN IN HIS BED!)
6 am POO OUTSIDE ON PUPPY PAD, YAY!! (puppy whimpered early in the morning to be let out)
    10 am FEED
10:45 PEE + POOD ON CARPET
    12:45 PEED ON CARPET
4:00 pm PEED OUTSIDE ON PUPPY PAD, YAY!!
    6:45 FEED

Went outside with puppy for 20 minutes 3 times. He refused to go pee outside on the pad this time.
10:00 PEED IN HIS BED after we spent 20 minutes outside on the puppy pads

I started giving Louis treats today and he got 2 treats. Will start again tomorrow.

Advice from Jamiya on crate training.

Louis is confined to his laundry basket and does not leave it unless I know he has been both #1 and #2 relieved.

I do stay home full time for now until the 9th of this month. This gives me 7 days to work with him... I do watch carefully 24 hours for the last 3 days but we are still having accidents.

Just from journaling, I have noticed that Louis tends pee on carpet and our hardwood floors. Must keep him off carpeting for now.

The covered porch is cement and he will play and then wait to get back inside to go on cloth...

I do feel bad about keeping him in his laundry basket so often. He sleeps a lot because he's so little but I keep reminding myself that this will all be worth it in a few weeks.

How often are you taking him out? It should be AT LEAST every hour, and more if he is still having trouble. Small breeds have trouble holding it for very long when they are young. Also take him out immediately after waking up, immediately after playing (or if he pauses in the middle of playing and you think he might go), and shortly after eating or drinking - like within 10 minutes.

In addition to Jamiya's advice on potty training, what I also did was to spray some housetraining aid on the surface where I wanted my boy to go. My boy is also a small breed dog. It was very successful, and we did it within 2 weeks. No more accident in the house. You just have to keep a really close eye on yours until he is used to the habit of going outside.
