help...just got a new keet to join my existing bird and my old one now is all fluffed up. The new one nuzzles right up to it. They seem to get along great. The old one is still eating, but does not look good. Anything I can do?? The old one is about 5 years old.

Was the new bird placed in its own cage for 30days before introducing it to your older bird.

Chances are that the new bird may have some illness or virus which has passed onto your older bird and the stress of getting a new cage mate has brought out the symptoms.

A bird sat fluffed up on a perch or cage floor if the room temp is warm is a sign of something not right and needs to see an avian vet ASAP i would also suggest having your new bird checked over aswell just to make sure that one is ok.
The sooner they are checked in anything is present and diagnosed the sooner they can start treatment and the better the recovery.

Some birds like humans and animals only carry a virus but never become ill from it and this is what the case may be here.

Please let us know how things go if you take him to the vets.

    fluffed up keet help

Thanks so much for the response. The new bird was introduced without waiting 30 days. I wish I had known that I needed to have them separated. I will take both the birds to the vet asap. I called the vet this am and they told me to put a heating pad on the side of the cage and make sure the bird is eating and drinking until I get in. I will let you know.
