*Oh no*!! I just found little flea bugs on Sherbert! And the rest of the kitties have them too!! What do I do to get rid of them?!

you could get a flea comb (cheap at WalMArt) and dip it in Dawn dishwashing liquid and comb the kittens. Clean the comb between each swipe. You probably should dissove the Dawn in water since the kittens are young. Do this every day, take 2 aspirins and call me in the morning :D

Those flea combs are very handy. They're very fine toothed - they'll nab up those pesky fleas easily. Fleas don't die easy, though. I couldn't even squish them when they were around my house a couple years ago (I found them biting my leg... etc).

I think Mary's idea with the dish detergent is a good one. That may help kill those buggers.

another question i had was.. sherbert has a lot of black eye goo, and a lot of black crust beside his nostrils, what is it?

he might have allergies...even possibly to fleas. Not flea dirt is it? To find out you can remove some of the black goo and put it in a tad bit of water. If it turns red it's flea good...I think that's how it works. I'd get the fleas taken care of and see if the goo goes away

not it's just chunks of goo. it's fur beneath it.

I just learned at the vet today that black or dark brown eye goo is normal discharge color but if there is alot of it that could mean a blocked tear duck, allergies, ect. If its red, yellow or green then it could be an infection.
Good luck with the flea comb.

When my kitten Sammi had fleas the vet told me to wash her with Johnson's Baby Shampoo. Leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing...this suffocates the fleas...and rinse well. You may want to treat the older cat with an adult flea remedy as well so all the fleas don't flock to her.

depending on the age of the kittens the best thing for them is Revolution. it's pricy but it kills the adult fleas when they bite AND the eggs and larvae. it is one dose applied to the back of the neck and it lasts a month. may need to use it for 2 or three months in a row though if the infestation is bad.

as for the eye goop, what everyone suggested is a possibility. keep an eye on it and try to keep it washed off the lil face :)
