My New Digital Camera Has a Setting for Dogs

I just upgraded to a new Canon digital camera and in examining all of the new features I discovered a special setting called "Dogs and Kids". It is designed for a quicker shutter release to capture rapidly moving objects like, well, dogs and kids. I was always frustrated with my old camera because of the delay between pushing the snap button and the shutter actually shooting the photo. How many times would I have framed a perfect photo only to end up with a photo of a retreating butt.

that is cool. and freckels too. My shutter so slow, I need to read the manaul bcause its less than a year old and was expensive. you have seen Somedays pics?, those are awesome, she said her camera is inexpenisve but has a fast shutter speed

Im wondering if this is the same type of camera someday has, her action shots of Annie are always clear.

Which Canon did you get Dukesdad? I'm actually looking at digital cameras now, since I decided to some of the forum members advice and start a photography business this summer taking pictures at horse shows. I really want the Nikon D70, but it's a bit out of my price range. I'm also looking at the Canon Rebel though. I like the Nikon because it has a little better continuous shot feature. Let me know how that Canon does
The current one I have is pretty reasonably priced, and shutter speed is not that bad(although I still get my share of retreating butt shots), but it's a 3.1 megapixel so I can't blown them up very large, and it doesn't have a flash so I have to take in perfect lighting or pictures come out dark or grainy. And only a 2x zoom, so I practically have to let the dog hit me to get good, close action shots...hehe. but it's a nice camera for just getting out and shooting some pretty good pictures. It's an Apitek 3100. So if I'm going to do this for money though, I need the pictures to be able to go large and deal with less than ideal lighting.

 

Someday, I think you found your calling! My camera is Minolta Dimage. I cant remember what pixel , will have ot look when I get home

I already have a Canon A80, which is fantastic for my photography class, but based on size I definetly needed a 2nd camera! I went with the Canon SD300, which has the "Dogs and Kids" setting as well :lol:

My Canon A80 has actually been better for me though, as far as fast moving objects are concerned (I use it for a lot of concert photography as well) I've found my new one to be a bit slower, because my other Canon has a very quick "action" setting for a much faster shutter speed, even faster than when I manually set the ISO on my new Canon.

Convenience still wins though, so my SD300 being even smaller than my Ipod makes everything easier. Here's a shot I took of my pup today during playtime :mrgreen:


She was jumping up trying to bite the leaves (her favorite toys during playtime) off of the plants. Silly girl!

Someday, I highly suggest Canon cameras! They are the only cameras I'll buy and they are really excellent for digital photography especially. You'll love the Canon digital rebel, and best of luck with your photography.

You are both way ahead of me. All I have is the new PowerShot A510 which is a 3.2 meg 4X zoom. All I need is a snapshot camera and usually only print 4X6" prints. I added a 256K memory card so I can shoot all day. I also tried out the video capabilities and it is amazing. Depending on the resolution I believe you can shoot up to a 10 minute digital video.
