:-s I am new to this forum.I have a female cat that is about a year old named Pepper, that I adopted when she was nine months old. She has always been very friendly and playful. She is an indoor cat and we have one other cat. Lately She does not seem to want to be in people's laps liek she used to. Could there be something wrong, or is this a psase that she is going through? The onlky thing I can think is that is has happened since we have opened the sunroom in the warm weather and she spends a lot of time in there.

=P~ and welcome!! it sounds normal to me. my cats go through phases, of wanting to be on my lap kneading, to sitting on the desk at the computer, to just hanging out with each other. i think it will pass. i always try to get them to sit on my lap...but the only one that likes to do it is mikey....he jumps up and kneads my stomach, looks like hes falling asleep, then abruptly jumps down. :)

my cats do the same thing....my little sealpoint meezer, Missy, is a definite heatseeking lap cat - any lap will do. But now and then she'll give up her lap ways and seek the comfort of a vene pillow :D and she'll do that for a couple of days and return to the comfort of a lap

I wonder if its becuz they KNOW you want their attention. Sometimes(ok, pretty often) i will scoop up Vianne and throw her over my shoulder and flop on the bed with her and snuggle. She will just lay there quietly like she's thinkin "um, ok...why are we laying here? can i go now?" lol, as soon as i open my arms, she takes off. But if i act like i am ignoring her...well then, of course, she has to come see whats up and does not mind at all to invade my personal space and stick her cold, wet nose in my ear and start licking my eyebrows! Must be a kitty thing!

My Kyrre was really a lap cat when we first got him at eight weeks, then he started to get more and more independent, and didn't want to snuggle unless he could lie in his basket. But now, he is back to being a lap cat again... And that makes me very happy offcourse :D

:m23: and welcome! How long after Pepper did you acquire the second cat? Our snugglers are the same way after the our son started being mobile. Pumpkin stopped snuggling and sitting on my lap after my belly got big. Milo will sit on my lap for 2 seconds and take off wheras he used to sit on me for 20 min. to an hour. The only one still willing to seriously snuggle and play with me is sweet Rene. Otherwise, they spent most of their time hunting and snoozing in the sunroom. Love to see pics of your furbabies if you have any! :m7:
Mary, I'm tickled pink! Has the pillow fallen apart yet?

I know my cat Chole goes through phases. She's a huge lap cat. But, when it becomes spring and summer, she's more interested in windowsills and sitting in the sunlight.

However, in the winter, you have to pry her off your lap.

Since it's getting nicer here, I haven't had her in my lap for a day or two.

    It sounds normal to me.

    Oh yes, and... welcome!
