Okay, I am new to this board, and am in need of help. I have four cats. One is a domestic that I took in off of the streets when she was a tiny kitten. Her name is Depot.(She was found in Home Depots parking lot).

I also have three sphynx kittens. All females, two are four months old, the other is 6 months old. Sphynx by nature get into everything, so we have baby proofed our home for my lil girls. The problem is, that for the past three days they have been vomitting. Its only the sphynx that are doing it though!

Depot runs outside every time someone opens the door, she runs around the yard for a little bit, but doesn't stray out of our yard. The Sphynx DO NOT go outside. Last week I took the two youngest sphynx in for shots, and they had their stool checked at the same time, and they were given a clean bill of health, now all of the sudden they are vomitting. They do not throw up their food, It appears to be a watery substance that they are throwing up.

I don't have the slightest clue as to what could be causing this. Is it possible that Depot could have given them something because she goes outside? But if that was the case, wouldnt she be sick too????

At the vet appt. two youngest ones weighed in at 4lbs and 2 lbs 11ounces. The problem with that is, the one that weighs 2lbs., is 2 days older than the one that weighed in at 4lbs.

I have had these kittens for a few months now, and have not had any problems until now, with the excetion of them stressing when we first got them home.

I feed them Iams kitten food. The only thing that I have changed recently is their cat litter. I started using the Arm and Hammer litter. Could this be making them ill??

I hope that someone has some ideas for me, because not only am I VERY attatched to these kitties, I have a HUGE amount of money invested in them.

Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry to be so long winded, I just wanted to give as much info. as possible. They are only throwing up this watery substance a couple of times a day, ... Seeing how they are hairless cats, I know it is not caused by hairballs!!

    Thanks,
    Crystal

Hi Welcome to Auspet. How many times a day are they vomiting? Also how long after they eat do they start vomiting? Since they started vomiting, are they all still eating/drinking/going to the litter box (with no signs of diarrhea) and acting like normal healthy cats, despite their episodes of vomiting?

It's been a while since you posted, so if your cats are not eating/drinking and vomiting all the time and show other signs of not being well, please take them all to the vet a.s.a.p.

I was able to get the babies in first thing this morning, before the vet shut down for the hurricane!

He ran blood work and stool checks, and they came back fine. He put some sort of packs under their skin to rehydrate them... It was funny looking. Had a hug blob sticking out of their side until the liquid was absorbed!

Anyways, he told me that it was probably the change in their food that did it. It stressed them out, and upset their bellies. No medicines at this time, just lots of love.

    THANKS!!!!!

hi sphynxluver...wecome to the auspet kitty forum...

wow...what a scare!! good thing you could get them in!!

are they going to be show kitties....or pets? sometimes you find those goofy idiosyncrasies with purebreds...like they might be more sensitive to changes in diet, or come down with colds more often, than with a "plain ole cat" like your other one.

well...in your post you only mentioned changing their litter...not their food. were they on something else before you put them on the iams?
you will find that alot of people in the forum will recommend kitten food other than science diet, iams, and the general brands because of the byproducts in them. iams also does animal testing...it is a controversial company at this time due to their practices and policies on animal testing. soo....maybe you could post more about your kitties... :m33: their diet...pictures of your kitties etc.

as far as the little one...my max was only two lbs at three months. i was FREAKING OUT!!!  thinking he would never grow and that he was not thriving. then...he started growing at about four to five months. and caught up. but...i also switched him from royal canine which is a premium brand...with "byproducts" to chicken soup for the kitten lovers soul, which lists the first four ingredients as protein sources...and has no corn in it. his coat is shiny....and....everybody who might be reading this...HE NOW WEIGHS 7 LBS 3 OZ!!!! :m10: which is a miracle :p

but of course...hee hee hee...you dont have to worry about shiny coats!!!

keep us updated!!! :qm2: :m27:

:m23: Could the kitties besides having upset stomachs have allergic reactions to the vaccines. My vet told me that there's been an increase in kitties getting allergic to new vaccines. Anyways, hope they all feel better and post pics please after the hurricane of course. We love pics!!!
