My Turn to Ask for Advice

    Okay, all you pros.

If anyone remembers, I took Tash to the vet last Friday. He was put on antibiotics twice a day for seven days for a urinary infection.

We took him because he was peeing by our chair in the living room. The vet said it looked like it could be the beginning of an infection. But, the vet said that if it wasn't an infection, it was probably behavioral.

Well, after we took Tash home and had him on medicine, he was good and used the litterbox... until last night. He peed by the chair again.

Is this common for a cat with an infection to pee outside the box after being on medication for a few days?

I can't understand if it's behavioral. Nothing has changed in our house since last year (when we got Kitters). If it's a behavior problem, what would I do to fix the problem? Behavior problems are much more difficult to fix.

I just hope he's ok. He has until this Friday on the medicine.

is he peeing in the same spot?
He might still be able to smell his urine and think it's acceptable to go on the spot.
If you are really sure you've eliminated the odor you could try putting some double-sided tape on that spot. Cats hate that

Yes, it was in the same spot as before.

We have a product that's the same as Nature's Miracle and we tried to soak the spot.

But, last night, we re-soaked the spot and then moved the chair on top of it. So, now none of the cats can access where Tash peed.

    I hope it works.

(And I was worried that the other cats would get the idea because they were all eager to smell where Tash went as soon as he walked away... as we were gathering our cleaning supplies)

I've also heard ppl say you can try putting their food dish on top of the cleaned spot for awhile since they won't want to pee on their food. :0011:

I was hoping the Vet visit would take of your problem. I'm sorry you are having trouble again.

I really don't have any advice. Hopefully Tash will catch on and stop going next to the chair.

    I hope he'll stop too...

I have heard of the putting food by it trick but forgot about that. Maybe once we move the chair off the spot, I'll relocate their food for a while.

I feel ya girl. It's probably that he can still smell where he peed. Copper keeps going/spraying in a few places where my dogs peed on throwrugs. Now he sprays those areas and I don't have even any rugs anymore! And it's a new vinyl floor. I think everyone peed Saturday morning--I was so fed up!! Sure could use a throw rug with all this rain...

Yeah, now that we moved the chair over the spot, I saw a suspicious stain on the landing. (He went there once originally). I couldn't tell for sure that he went there, but I have my suspicions.

I sprayed the floor (hardwood) with that neutralizing stuff.

I just hope it's not behvaioral.
