Hey everyone. my white female zebra finch (not the one with the eggs) has a lot of missing feathers. I first noticed a little missing on her thigh, then a couple days later I noticed she's missing some on her back now. I don't see any feathers on the cage floor, but I do notice feathers in their nest. Is it safe to assume she's plucked her own feathers as nesting material? I just want to be sure she hasn't got a disease of any kind. I'm pretty sure all the feathers are in their nest, but it's it's hard to see very well in there so it's hard to tell since her other nesting material is also white. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!! :)

Hi if she is putting her feathers into the nest this indicates she thinks its not soft enough to lay her eggs in.

What i do is give them hay to build the nest and kitchen paper or toilet paper shredded into strips for them to line it with.
You may find she will start on the males feathers aswell or he may decide to do it himself.

Keep an eye on them but i do not suspect anything wrong..
