OK. Apparently Flo is going to need someone experianced with Walker Hounds.

After the shelter and I temp tested her, she's had absolutely NO socialization at all. She's sooo scared and shy its unbelieveable. She has spent the last 2 days curled up in a ball in the back of her kennel....She doesn't greet anyone with any enthusiasm, just lays there watching you and shaking....

The vet thinks that someone with experiance in hounds is best for her and I agree. I'm researching the breed, but never having one doesn't give me any personal experiance....I'm not sure I know how to handle this situation.

So if anyone knows of ANY Walker or Coon Hound rescues PLEASE let me know!! She has until tomorow at noon. I'm going to bail her out myself to keep her from being PTS. But I need to find a rescue ASAP to help keep from any further emotional trauma.

My BB breeder friend has a Bloodhound Beagle breeder friend...I'll send them your post via email and see what they can come up with. Poor Flo!!

I know. I just spoke with the girl that does all the walking, exersizing, feeding, grooming. She said that all Flo has done since they brought her there was lay in the back corner.... Its heart breaking... Poor girl!!!

We're trying to get ahold of them. They seem to be VERY busy people.

I spoke again with the head lady. She is about on the same wave length as me. Shes agreed not to put her down. SO I can leave her there until we find a rescue.

We talked for a good 30 minutes just a little while ago, and we both came to the same conclusion....she needs some extensive work.
Apparently she was bred in the past, and lived her life on a chain. Was thrown food and not payed any attention too. She just acts like she has absolutely NO spirit what so ever.

We tracked down the owner. He said that he just let her go because when he baught her, she wouldn't have anything to do with their family....
What a moron!! So AC fined him $250 for running at large, $400 for neglect, and another $200 for illegally dumping.
So he's going to pay big time.

I'm leaving here at 2:00 for while to go check on her and see if I can get any reaction out of her at all.....

Sams, would she be better off at your place while you look for a rescue? Is she being scared by all the dogs around her? Bonnie was MUCH more confident once I got her away from her kennel at the shelter.

They have her in the back. She's in the quarentine kennel.SHe did get dog agressive with her Pen mate. So they separated them.

The only thing with that is, my dogs would drive her crazy. We thought it out, and she likes it much better in a quiet area. And thats where she is now.

If she was to get out of the kennel somehow, I'd never be able to catch her again. She's a fright and flight. She got out at their facilities once, and it took them 3 1/2 hours to catch her in their kennel area... Luckily they have a chain link fence she couldn't get out of all the way around it.

I'm trying to keep from moving her from place to place to place. She's got 24/7 attention there, and someone is always petting her. She's become the "special" dog. They all adore her, but are at the same time saddened at her condition.

The blood work came back and she has heart worms so their going to do an ekg and ultra sound to see how bad. Then treatments can begin.
Poor girl....she's gone from a free scared bird to an even more scared caged one..... if she'd only understand that we're trying to help.....

Sounds like you're right and she's best where she is. I didn't realize she has a "private suite." Poor girl.
