Need help with speech about breed-specific legislation

I am doing a speech about breed-specific legislation next week for a class at school. So.....I'd like you guys' help/input/websites, etc. It has to be 10 mins long and I get nervous and talk 100mph so I need lots of stuff.

My plan is to state what bsl is, statistics, how it came about, what proponents say about it, and then get a lot into why it is bad, pitbull myths, what it means for the future etc. I want to focus mainly on why it is bad and why it is not the answer.

I have been looking at a few websites which are good but I know there are others that are out there that are better. Also if anyone knows websites that have good statistics about dog attacks, what cities have these laws in effect, etc. that would be useful.

Also any sort of good points that you think should be made. I don't want to come out looking like one of those crazy animal rights activists (although I do lean that way) .

By the way, the audience is a class of graduate accounting students so it has to be good and interesting. I don't believe many of them even have dogs, let alone pits or the sort so that is a bit of a problem. The speech needs to hold their attention - be interesting to those who don't have dogs or care about them like I/we do.

    THanks in advance.

And here are some pit bull sites, although breed specific legislation can ban other types of dogs, too, like rotties, etc.

    http://pitbulls.jentown.com/pitbullhistory/pitbullhistory.htm
    http://www.sentinelandenterprise.com/letters/ci_2526925
http://www.workingpitbull.com/aboutpits.htm (and wow, but the dog under the Temperament section named Bandog Pride has a face that looks a LOT like Bonnie's) - check out other links on this site as well

    And this quote from http://groups.msn.com/PitBullPitporium/militaryapbts.msnw:

I'm still looking for that excellent pit bull site with a bunch of historical photos and stuff. I wonder if they took it down or something.

Moe historic pics, but there are about 3 graphic moderns abuse case pics towards the bottom 1/3 of the page, just a warning

More old pics (several pages, be sure to see all, my favorite is the pits on the corn remover ad  )

BSL info sites (some really good info for you here):
    http://www.understand-a-bull.com/BSL/BSLIndex.htm

Pit bull info sites with BSL info:
    http://www.nyx.net/~mbur/apbtfaqpre.html

    http://www.americanpitbullterrier.org/

    http://www.badrap.org/rescue/breed.cfm

    http://realpitbull.com/

Groups which do not support BSL:
    American Veterinary Medical Association
    http://avma.org/

Something else you might be interested in, since BSL is becoming more and more probable in Ont. Canada, many people have been assaulted or had their dogs assaulted by people who now feel it is their right to deal with dogs they feel shouldn't be in their neighborhoods. I can ask around a couple other boards I got to and see if anyone wants to share their story, and I know there are a few email lists dedicated to the Ont. situation where you might find some stories of how BSL that hasn't even passed yet is impacting people.

I'll see if I can find more tomorrow, it's late!
