Need some help with Brie

Ok, I've about had it. For a few months now, Brie gets up about 3 times during the night.***And my mother would like you all to know that she does not do this at her house! :) * She gets up about 3 hours after we go to bed and pees on the wee wee pad that I leave down. Then about 3 hours after than she poops somewhere...hallway or kitchen. And then about 30 minutes before my alarm clock goes off at 4:40am she gets back up and squeaks her toy non-stop and if she didn't poop earlier does so then. I usually wake up and take her out if I hear her walking around...mostly it's too late though--she's already messed in the house.

The dogs' beds are in my bedroom at night. (they used to sleep with me until about 4 years ago when I couldn't get them to stop jumping off of the bed) At my mom's house, they are gated in a small vinyl floored room even though her dogs are free. They have never had an accident in that room but will begin barking and carrying on by 6am if she tries to sleep in. If I gate her in the kitchen, I think I have to put Zoey in there too and that doesn't seem fair. And all Brie will do is yip and jump at the gate all night. Oh and then poop and Zoey will clean that up.

She's 9 1/2 years old and has a kidney stone but no sign of a UTI (knock on wood).

When we go out in the middle of the night, I stand in the yard with her and wait and wait for her to poop. I will carry her back down in the yard if she tries to come back up on the deck. This doesn't seem to help. I can see her set those ears back and then she'll just sit down in the yard.

I'm very interested in what you guys would do. Zoey and I are very tired lol and I would love to sleep through the night.

Wow, that's a really tough one. About the only thing that comes to mind right off is a crate, so she won't mess in it. Assuming she can actually hold it. I'll keep thinking....

Can I crate a 9+ year old stubborn weenie dog and not the other one?

Do you think she's like this at my house because they sleep while I'm at work and then are not getting enough exercise before we go to bed? When they're at Mom's they're outside alot and then follow her around the rest of the time. I wonder if more activity after I get home would help.

That's a very good possibility. Maybe you could hire a dog walker while you are at work? And take them out when you get home.

You *can* crate an older dog, but I would take it slow and introduce her to the crate as a really fun place to be over a week or two. Look up articles on crate training, especially by Whole Dog Journal. Of course, there would be an adjustment period.

I have a wire crate that I have had to put them in before--when their backs were acting up. And if I bring it in now, everyone will get in it as long as I don't close that door lol. Right now I have a soft mesh crate that I got for them to travel in set up in the bedroom. I also move one of the dog beds back here at night and they seem to prefer the crate. If I were to zip it up. she would probably chew right through it. All that being said, I think I will definately check out crating her. Thanks!! :D
