I finally located a site that is monitoring the storms impact on zoos that were hit by the storm:

The Audubon Zoo and the downtown aquarium apparently survived, so far. Here are two reports:

Audubon Nature Institute (as of 8-31). AZA reports that the staff of the Audubon Nature Institute is safe. The physical plants at both the Zoo and the Aquarium suffered little damage. The staff will continue to assess the impact on the animal collections at all Audubon facilities. The Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species (ACRES) lost one whooping crane but the remaining animals at the facility are fine. The area has not been flooded but there are some leaks at the Research Center. Four animal keepers were flown in by helicopter. At present, they do not need food or water.

Aquarium of Americas (as of 8-31). The Palladium-Item reported that the Aquarium, located on Canal Street a few blocks from the New Orleans' French Quarter, lost only one fish and he had been sick before the hurricane hit

This is a small thing, but I love how they refered to the fish as "he." I know, it's silly. But I had a guy call me who wanted to adopt my foster dog and asked how he could adopt "it" and my radar turned on right away.

I'm glad the animals and keepers are safe. A small piece of good news amid all the bad.
