There are lots of free training vidoe clips by Sophia Yin...not only dogs but horses and other animals as well. Definately worth checking out!

I bought her book, "How to Behave so Your Dog Behaves", over the weekend and I'm impressed. Its very easy to read and understand. I highly recommend it especially for first time owners.

Hehe, I was just going to post about this site when I saw this thread. What an awesome site! The aussie in the Rewarding Calm Behavior clips behaves a lot like Nala, only I think Nala is more exuberant. :)

I watched a few and I liked them. But one of the ones I watched bc Luther has a problem with it is, the crate one. I don't use the crate very often (just for flying) but i still wish he wasn't so afraid of it. I haven't tried the tying him to the crste, bc I eorry he will get scared and try to run then just pull the crate behind him and get more scared bc a crate is now chasing him, but I have tried giving him treats and only feeding inside the crate, and he will not eat, I have waited 3 days of only doing this and he will absolutely not eat, does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with that?

How about feeding him near the open crate (at a distance he is comfortable with) at first and very gradually moving his food dish closer and closer to the crate...then just in the front of the opening of the crate (like in the video) and gradually further into the crate. Adding some extra special treats to his dish might help too.

I tried that for a week or so and he would always run up get a piece and take off, then I tried to move inside, just barely inside! and he wouldn't come near it. but maybe i just need to give it more time. But if I rarely use his crate is it important? I mean I would like him to go in on his own, but he is just so scared.

You probably just need to give it more time. If he is running up to grab food and running away the food dish is probably too close. You need to start at a distance where he is comfortabe eating normally.
I guess if you hardly ever use the crate it probably is'nt that important but doing should make the crate less stressful for him when you do need to use it.
