I have had a BIG male TOM stray hanging around my area for about 2 weeks now..He is a bit friendly, but he looks like he has ring worm and other skin problems, plus MANY cuts and battle scars.. I dont want the kids to touch him as I dont want my kids or cats getting ring worm either, my 2 are INDOOR cats, they are not allowed out at all, unless on a harness out the back of our yard..
He is a big ginger Tom..Iv rang my 2 local RSPCA shelters and asked if they could send someone out, but they wont come and collect him..They are flat out with what they have at the shelters at the moment..
Dont ya just love xmas time for animals, NOT...

He was here this morning, came to the door, my 2 were very stand offish, he really HISSED and GROWLED at my female cat, but didnt seem to mind my male cat, strange :|
Iv knocked on all my neighbours doors, and surrounding dorrs, BUT NOTHING..
Not sure what to do, he is also stalking my cockatiels out the back too, they are getting quite a fright...I will try my RSPCA again, and see if someone will come out..

If you have the time and patience, I recommend that you leave out food and water (heated if possible) available near your home and see if the stray shows up again. Once you gain his trust, you can capture him by getting a loaner trapping cage from the ASPCA or the feral cat focus with a down deposit. They'll return your deposit in most cases when you return the cage. Then you can trap the cat and take it in for clinic day or special days for evaluation, meds, vaccination and neutering which should be low cost. Do not touch him or have your cats go out until he has been tested negative for feline AIDS and Leukemia. It may take up to a week to trap him. They'll give you instructions on how to trap him. It just might be a little miracle if he tests negative for everything and maybe, just maybe he might have been an abandoned or lost cat at one time and has a microchip on him. If not, maybe you can find yourself or someone to take him in for either socialization or if he's super friendly, immediate adoption. I wish you and the kitty lots of luck! Have you looked into no-kill shelters in your area for advice?

Thanks vene, he was back again this morning, I can here him Howling at night too, in the distants, we have other cats around that belong to people that roam, and this Tom is aggressivly fighting them, some of the domestics are getting badly fought by him..He is a very dominate Tom...
I am scrared someone is going to hurt him, as peoples patients around here are running thin..
I will try get hold of him if he returns..
Il put food and water out..
But Il have to see if I can get hold of a trap...
This is NO good for him or the other cats around.

I cannot adopt him as much as Id love to...

Since he is really friendly you should maybe try to get him to just walk into the cat cage you have.It might work. If you do try this idea you might want to also put some gloves on when you are trying to convince it to walk in. Well good luck :y_the_best:

I have a friend who befriended a stray cat and just encouraged the cat to eat in her garage on a daily basis. She placed food in a pet carrier every day and when she was ready, she just closed the door and trapped him. The stray is now living in a no-kill shelter.

Please try to get the loaner trap ASAP. Place the food there each day. When you think the cat is used to eating the food in there, set up the trap. Use the stinkiest food possible on the day of the trap by using tuna or something.

Maybe you can get your neighbors to come together to trap this poor cat. Say you'll keep the trap at your place (so nothing bad will happen to him) and they can all pitch in a dollar or 2 to purchase a trap from a pet store or ebay or for borrowing the trap from the SPCA, feral cat focus, or the no-kill shelters.

Once the cat is trapped, you can get involved by fostering him (if he tests negative for feline AIDS and Leukemia, otherwise they will put him to sleep) for a shelter, preferably a no-kill one until he is adopted or ready to live in the no-kill shelter. If he's extremely feral, doesn't sound like he is, he can be reintroduced to a new place like a barnyard where farmers and other folks really need and treasure him as a mouser.

Thanks Bente.. Im so happy about it..I was sooo upset that I might have to have taken him to a shelter where he may not of given him a home..They are NOT a NO KILL policy here..There is Too many stray cats, they are OVERWHELMED by them all..If they are in the shelter for a period of time, then they put them to sleep..

So Im chuffed as...He wasnt an un-freindly boy, just weiry..But now he has a good home..
I will keep a good eye on them and him..

I will try get a piccie of him, if he visits me and the kids again..
