Off topic but you know me hehehe

Hi guys just thought would let you know that the first clutch of 6 finch eggs died anyway they have had a second clutch of 4 eggs and 2have hatched this morning they are so tiny and cute will post pics as soon as they get abit bigger as the camera cant pick them up properly as they are sooooo small..

Just had to share with you guys as i know how much you like good news...

Wow! Keep those little buggars warm. The cold kills them really fast. Sorry to hear about the first clutch. But the first usually fails if I'm not mistaken.

 

My sister's finches had a bunch of babies. They were so cute!!

 

yay more babies! I didn't knnow you had birds too! finches are noisy little buggars. I had 2 a few years back and one day while I was at work, my roommate let them out of their cage, needless to say her cat ate the female (I never liked that dumb cat) then a few months later(new apt., no roommates), I let the one out its cage and it was flying and chirping having a goodtime then I didn't hear any noise no chirping, I searched all over the house for it couldn't find it. I made my bf look under the bed (sure enough that is where it was). I am not so good with birds even though I love them!!

One of my sister's babies got out when she was trying to separate them into different cages when they were old enough. He only made it a few feet when her newest cat vaulted into the air using the couch as a springboard and snagged the poor little bird in mid-air. And this is an indoor cat - no experience catching his own prey!! Amazing, but unfortunate. Her husband grabbed the cat and got the bird out and he seemed unharmed except for one leg. They took him to the vet and he said the leg was fine but the bird may die anyway just from the fright. He was put into a dark, warm, quiet room for the night but he did end up dying, poor thing.

 

HI everyone one of my baby finch's died have no idea why other one seems ok and the other 2 eggs have started to hatch just hope they will all be ok...

Birds aren't all that easy to raise....

 

Oh I am sorry Mike, Birds especialy babies are so difficult. I wish you the best of look with the other eggs!!

 

Hi everyone another of the eggs have hatched i am now back to 2 babies and the other egg should hatch tomorrow..

The baby that survived is thriving i think something must have spooked the parents so i have moved there cage and they doing great.

Jusr glad i have alot of knowledge when it comes to amimals.

Will keep you posted on the remaining babies and how they do...

Well guys all the chicks have hatched and died i figured out what was wrong and it was the parents were attacking the chicks and killing them i have never had this happen before apart from my cockatiels killing 3out of 4 of there chicks while i was away on holiday and a friend was supposed to be looking after them.

Anyway i am going to try again in the spring see if that helps and see what happens if this happens again they will never lay another egg.

I'm sorry, I raise quail and if i put them in the big cage too young the males will peck them to death. Usually i catch it in time and i take out the youngest and see if i can keep them alive, but sometimes i'm too late, so i feel you.
