Our flight back to USA

Hi!! I hope eveyone had a happy new year (and the rest of the year will be great too!) I just wanted to tell my story about coming home last week.
Ok so before I left I went to the wirport several times to check on the pets and make sure I had the right size carrier, the right paper work, everything in order. And I did, I even brought the carrier in and showed it to them. It was the same carrier she was brought over in, it fit within the size limits posted on their website amd given to me by the lady on the phone and when it was measured by the lady at theairport, everthing right! (Also side note that made me mad a small dog was in a soft sided carrier, which I was told by one of the people was not allowed on international flights at all) So we check in and get our seats. The guy was a total jerk first off, then he told us complettely different prices (for the animals)then we were told online, over the phone when we made the reservations and when I had stopped in at the airport ealier, so he had to call over the American manager of that stuff so he said we must be confused and that these are the real prices, So we paid them, the first guy asked the second guy if Dales cage needed a sticker since she was in cabin, the guy looked over and said no. So we go on about our business, just before boarding, I decide to ask if Luther is okI am waiting waiting, (15 minutes or so) my husband has already boarded when someone walks up to me and says that carrier is too big, it has to go under, so I exlain everything, they say we are sorry you must be confused (I was really fumng by this time!!) that size carrier is not allowed, I got angrier told them I had checked in here (Munich) and the guy at the desk said it was ok, she said where in Munich did you check in, I was like here at the airport one of the desks downstairs so she said questioning here? at this airport? I said yes! So she contacts the manager (same as before) to ask him if he knew about it and he walks over and says I have never seen you or your ca before! The only thing that kept me from not completely exploding was I worried if I got angry I might not be able to fly because they worr about their safety and I would be a threat. So they tell me to wait and see if the can find a soft carrier for the flight. I am sitting there waiting, I hear Final boarding call for flight ??? my flight, they are closing the gates, calling in Stand by people, I am so worried I will get left behind! When someone else tells me just to board, I can keep the cat in a closet (I guessed better than not going!) so I go to put her in the closet and the first class flight attendant whispers to me, the flight attendants in first class are all cat people, we won't put your cat in a closet. So she puts her under a seat and Dale did wonderful on the flight! I was so happy!! Sorry fopr the long drawn out story, but it made me so mad!!!

 

I'm happy to hear you made it home safely! It must have been really frustrating.

 

oh lil!! i would have been beside myself!! so glad things worked out, and dale got first class treatment. i cant remember how we got otis back from japan. all i remember is the loooooooong flight. ugh..... :shock:

Isn't it typical that things like this always happen? It irritates the h**l out of me when when people in these kind of jobs are unable to communicate with eachother! Grrr... :x But at least Dale got a good flight

 

I know! I was so woried something like this would happen and that is why I kept calling and stopping by and checking in! I thought I would save myself stress the day of, I guess not!
