Our new cat doesn't eat......

Actually this is not strictly true. To be accurate, we have never seen him eat anything in the month since we adopted our beautiful, 6 year old silver-black domestic shorthair from a local shelter. He is friendly, affectionate, gentle, and vocal. He appears in good health (we had him checked out by a vet a couple of days after we got him); he grooms himself, and seems normally active. We put out dry food for him and our other cat; apparently he must eat some of this at nite, since he has lost only one pound (from 15) since we got him. But he turns his nose up at any of the special treats which cats normally seem to love - raw or cooked fish, chicken, beef, 'gourmet' canned cat food, etc. - we've tried everything we can think of. This seems like strange behavior; is it possible that if he was never exposed to these foods before, he would not be interested in them now?

    cat is not eating?

Cats can be very picky eaters and it could well be that he has never eaten any of the tasty treats you've offered, or maybe he just doesnt like them, they are by nature nocturnal so as a rule most of the eating, hunting, activity is done at night, as long as he is at a good weight and isn't losing any and otherwise appears to be healthy and happy I would leave him with the dry food as long as he is getting all the nutrition he needs from it. Also 4 weeks isn't long for an adult cat to settle into a new home, some do straight away, some it can take a few months.

I agree, it may take a little time.

My one kitty, Socks, does not like cat treats and doesn't like table food. On the other hand, my other cat Mittens will eat some table food if I let her (I don't give her table food, though). Mittens doesn't care for cat treats, either.
They do like certain canned cat food, but only fish ones.

So, anyway, it might just be a personality thing. Give you kitty time. You'll get to know what she likes and dislikes. Best of luck. :)

Miss Brina won't eat treats either. She did like one kind once, but then I bought a different kind and she wouldn't touch them. I went back to the one she liked and she doesn't touch those now either. Just her expensive prescription food--thank you very much. Which is strange to me because she came from the "streets" as a rescue so I imagine that she ate just whatever she could find. But not now!

Copper thinks he should get a treat everytime the dogs do. He tries to eat whatever they do too.

Like Sunset said--just a personality thing.

    if she's pooping she's eating

some cats don't like canned food no matter what you buy. Some people will offer those moist foods (can't think of the name) that are in pouches. They aren't the greatest food but cats seem to like it as a treat
