The brown puppy has passed. There's only one black one left, but I can't find its photo. THe white puppy is actually Daisy Mae's. Its a survovor so far, at the vets office.

She reminds me sooo muchof Chars babies. All heelers are born solid white with the black. As they mature the blue or red comes in.

This one is going to have alot of brown in her fur. She's really shaped like a terrier....very tiny. I hope she makes it, but it looks grim.
The vet finally figured out why the last ones died. They have distemper that was passed from Daisy Mae. Hanky has been really good about taking care of the babies. But she wants to carry them around all the time.
Poor Smokey, he's all confused.....poor guy.
I'll have to take the camera out, take one photo of EVRYONE, that way you know who EVERYONE is!!!!

Sam, what nice pics you sure have what a menagery of animals you have had hard to keep track of them, the cocaktiel on the goats back :D and all of those puppies. And you are a beautiful girl, Cant believe I am 43 and it seems like yesterday I was your age.

hubby wants to get a goat, are they easy to take care of? I have never owned a farm animal in my life and havnt been around them so I dont thinks its something we should do, but I do live on 5 acres

Goats are VERY easy to take care of. THey do eat EVERYTHING. So if you have landscaping, its not a good idea unless you have the means to keep them away from the plants.

Basically, shelter, food, and water. They eat mainly vegitation. There is goat feed you can buy thats pretty cheap as well. They are very gentle (if raised properly) and the males you will want to get castrated. Rams are ugly (attitude wise) and stink. There are the pigmy goats that are just adoreable!!! they are really small.
Oh and they climb and jump on everything as well. Buddy gets ontop of the picknic table, hay bales....even on the cars. SO you have to be careful.

I like the idea of a pygmy goat, he wants to get one to help with weed control, each spring it takes him a month of week-ends to clear our dry brush in prep for fire season and I hear they eat poisen oak which we have a lot of. my neighbors just got a shtulund pony, the cutest thing, now he wants one of those

Shetlands are a very illtempered breed of the species. Good luck with them.

Mini's on the other hand are ok, but can become pretty rank.
Goats will definatelyclear out anything you have!!

first of all, Samsintentions, YOU are a beautiful girl. I just love the pic of you in your hat - worthy of a cover page for sure!!

Secondly - where the heck do you live?? Paradise??? Dogs, horses, country - you ARE livin' the dream and should be thankful everyday of your life.

Here in my world, it's about traffic, people, crowds at restaurants and hurricanes!! You AND your beautiful creatures are extremely lucky, just to be breathing that fresh country air!!

Wow, Sam! You really do have a lot of animals to keep up with. You're doing a great thing with the fostering and everything. As for you living the dream (as Pekemom put it) - you are definitely living my dream.

dont know if this is possible, could you like let an organization like ones that use horses as therapy for troubled kids, they could use your horses, taking care of them, feedng them and that would relive some of your burden and the horses gottaken carwe of?

Nice pics of everyone and you!

Have you heard back on your status to become an offical rescue? I was thinking you may be able to get people doing community service but am not sure if you have to be an "offical" rescue. We have one guy who comes to wash the cars and such at work and he works his butt off and is super nice. I would love to help if I were closer. Anyway hope you find something!
