this afternoon we noticed little blackish brown bumps on our blood parrot.
Its not a growth but more of little spots. He isnt showing any type of sickness. He is eating fine and swimming around more than ever but what could it be. We recently added the 3 clown loaches and the tank is going through a mini cycle but the perameters arnt out of wack that much.
What could it be. Could it just be colour change.
Our Blood Parrot is our prize fish and we dont want to loose him.
    Any suggestions would be great.

Hi tyler_medeiros, Black Spot only occurs with Marine fish. Your description sounds most like a granuloma or possibly a parasite Argulus (fish louse). Try searching granuloma, Mycobacteriosis and Argulus to see which best describes your problem.

i ve done research on both of them and and it doesnt look or sound like any of them.
Do you think it is possible fo rit to be Hole in the head.It almost looks like little indentations in his head. It looks almost the same as ich but it is black. Its mainly above the eye and a little bit on his anal fin. I cant really get a photo but i have take a video of him.
How can a post a video.
I will also try and take some good pictures.

ok ive been reading information from http://parrotcichlid.com/topics.php?op= ... c&topic=12
and all of the people from that post say its nothing to worry about it is just caused by stress and will eventually clear up but others say it is a form of ich and others say it is caused by high nitrates. What one do you thin it is.

It wouldn't be from stress. Stress shows up as color changes such as complete darkening or lightening of color or darkened stripes or bars not as a grouping of small black nodules. Black Spot (Black Ich) only occurs with Marine fish. While it is very difficult to tell from the pictures (blurry), the most likely situation is rupturing of blood vessels which can happen with high Nitrates or with many different bacterial infections. With either of these situations it will not go away on it's own. Best recommendation is to do water changes to get the Nitrates down to a good level, 20ppm or less. You might also consider a regimen of Maracyn 2. With extremely high Nitrates (enough to cause this type problem), you are almost assured of having bacterial problems.

Thank you very much. It must have been a bacterial infection because we are on the second day of treatment with Maracyn 2 and it is almost all cleared up already.
    Thnks again
