    Hi,
I'm sure if a vet pescribed this medication then it's 99% the right one for your baby.

Please try not to worry and monitor her progress closely.

Let us know how she, and you get on!

amoxicillin is fine for bladder infections. dont worry. have no idea where your breeder got that one from!

My Dogs have also been on that med in the past too.
No problems. Honestly, I would listen to the vet over this person any day of the week.
How is the dog doing now?
    Good luck.

she is doing well. She is still herself playful and all but she still can't hold the urine. she will just go out of nowhere. We pretty much had her house broken too (TRAINED) and now she is all discombobulated. so give me some advice if you have any. I hope she'll end up being okay. She seems fine. If i were to see her and noone told me she had a bladder infection i would never know.
Thanks anyway guys give me some advice you have any.

Oh yeah, If a puppy has a bladder infection are they proned to have them while they are older? She isn't drinking much water and should we try giving her vinegar in the water or cranberry juice because that is for bladder infections. But anyway where does it all start from and how can it be prevented? If your dog has had any type of bladder infection please inform me what you used to cure it and please help. Thank you.

Diet...ask your vet what you can do about her diet.
Sometimes you can add green vegetables (such as kale or spinach) in moderation to keep the urine PH levels okay.
I used to add a cranberry tablet to Sadie's dinner to help keep her tract clear of bacteria and it did help.
One doesn't mean others will follow but with Sadie it did. She had problems with UTIs here entire life until I added the cranberry supplement.
Some foods also contain cranberry to aid with this.

Baytril is the drug my vet usually gives for UTIs as it is a good broadspectum antibiotic--but it makes my Brie sick. So she was given amoxicillin several times. It didn't seem to work though, so the last few times she was given Primor. Unfortunately it is hard to culture a dog's urine, so it's pretty much guesswork. Your vet is definately the best source here. Probably the only way your dog would be prone to UTIs the rest of her life is if she has bladder stones or worse--like my Brie--a kidney stone.

You can encourage her to drink more water by using a pet fountain. All of my animals love it. Or put ice cubes in her water dish...some dogs like them. Also, you can make a gravy with her food with water or chicken broth. I agree with Mary to check with the vet on a diet change.

I leave wee wee pads down at night and when I'm not home so my dogs don't have to hold it if they can't.

go to a pet supply store and buy some doggy pants and just put ordinary humans sanitary pads in them so she doesnt get pee everywhere. also saves you having to clean her bottom if she manages to do it in her sleep. just remember to take them off if she goes outside though.

my dog had a uti when she was young and it took about 2 weeks for the amoxicillin to do its thing.

One of my dogs had a UTI when she was a puppy. She had it at the shelter and was "cured" but then got it again when she came home. She was put on antibiotics again and it cleared up and she has not had any trouble since.

Be patient with the housetraining thing. She should go back to doing really well with it after a few days. In fact, by now she is probably fine - right?
