I am getting real tire of this sorry for going over this again and again but hopefully someone can shed some light

Okay, As I have posted we think Jake has a yeast problem , below
is list of what he cant/can have
hubby doesnt want to do raw I was checking on raw patties hoping to convince him but many of them have fillers and that is something I cant do for now.
Recap = this all started with Innova, (ingred list below) tried changing foods, did Cal natural lamb and rice - he immediately went into a scratching fit - only ingred - lamb rice sunflower,

This weekI just started mixing Wysong Synorgan with his food, he started chewing, scratching. (ingred chicken, rice, flaxseed)

Can he really be reacting this fast to an ingred?? And which one would it be???

I have done an exahustic esearchon foods and I cnat find any that doesn have the not touse ingred, any suggestions???

Sorry to keep bringing this up but I am at my wits end here

INGREDIENTS THAT ARE OK TO USE:

Meats: Beef, buffalo, duck, chicken, fish (No Salmon or Steelhead), rabbit, turkey, Cornish hen, lamb. Try to find treats that are MEAT-BASED.

Vegetables: asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, parsley, squash, brussel sprouts, celery, green beans, yellow beans, cucumbers, collard, kale, lettuce, spinach.

Dairy Products: Plain yogurt only - NO SUGAR ADDED!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    FOODS TO AVOID:

AVOID PET FOODS OR TREATS THAT CONTAIN: Meat-by-products, Poultry-by-products, wheat flour, wheat gluten, potatoes, sweet potatoes or pasta. Avoid Corn syrup, Corn gluten, Rice flour, caramel coloring or Sugar.

Avoid dairy products; like buttermilk, cheeses and Cottage cheese.

Avoid grain products: and prepackaged breads, cereals, cookies, crackers, pretzels, or any type of treats that are made with enriched Flour.

Avoid products like; Peanuts, sorbital, onions, sweet potatoes, yams, sausage, bacon, corn beef, lunch meats, smoked turkey, Ham, sauces or gravies. Avoid Vitamin or minerals supplements made from yeast sources.

AVOID ANYTHING SWEET: sugar, honey, molasses, maple syrup, corn

    Look at Innova's Ingredients:

    Turkey

    Chicken

    Chicken Meal

    Herring

    Apples

    Garlic

    Potatoes

    Alfalfa Sprouts

    Carrots

    Cottage Cheese

    Milk

    Eggs

In addition to these fresh ingredients, Innova contains:

Whole Ground Barley and Whole Ground Brown & White Rice

These are quality grain sources of highly digestible carbohydrates, not pre-processed grain fractions from other industries.

    Sunflower Oil and Chicken Fat

These are ultra high-quality sources of fat... chosen for their skin & coat properties and are rich in linoleic acid!

Hi Honey, it may be the flaxseed Jake is sensitive to which is quite common. I think a dog needs a good 2-3 weeks on a different food before a problem is identified although this depends on the severity of the allergy/sensitivity (a flax problem may show right away). If ANY of the same ingredients are in the new food, this makes it difficult to pinpoint the source. Have you tried a true elimination diet?

On your list of foods to avoid Grain products are listed, and this seems to me the most obvious source since the foods he has had Innova, Cal Nat., & wysong all contain grain. Easily digestible or not grains are still grains.

I am curious too what Raw patties were you looking at? I'm surprised that they would/could contain fillers?? What were the fillers? Why does hubby not want to do raw just out of curiosity :) Raw might be your best bet because it is easy to monitor what goes in the food and keep it simple at first, plus new meat sources can be used. IMO a month or two on Raw is worth it if it helps.

Forgive my memory but have you tried home-cooking his meals?

arrggh I erased my long post :x
Jas - Could this be the link???? flaxseed, sunflower oil, Within hours of jake eating the Calif Natural lamb and rice and the Wyson synergon, he was chewing and scratching, CN sunflower oil i s 3rd ingred and Wysyng flaxseed is also third which means they are main ingredients. I just did a search and they are both a form of linoic oil. I hope this is what I am looking for, this will make it easier to find food for his yeast free diet.

I did it :D - I made an appt for Jake on Wed afternoon with the local holistic vet. For the yeast problem and this possible sunflower/flaxseed allergy - since they the main ingrededients in all top foods. I wanted to wait until payday, but want to get this resolved since he is almost out of his current food

At this point I would definately think about doing a true elimination diet as Jas suggested...this would be the best way to find out exactly what he can tolerate.
Keep us posted on what the holistic vet says.

Possibly, it's not uncommon. But I still wouldn't rule out a grain sensitivity. Glad that you've found a holistic vet, I hope they can help Jake. Keep us posted! :)

    Good luck

honeybears, are you willing to try 'Nature's Recipe Allergy'? They have two kinds, Venison, a meat protein source not found in most dog foods and Vegetarian (non-Meat) formulas for meat-senstive dogs. I have not tried it. Someone on another dog post mentioned that they switch to this food and no problems. You can go to their site (Nature's Receipe) to get more details. Below is ingredients. Let me know what you ended up having to do.

Venison meal, rice, cracked pearled barley, oats, pea protein, poultry fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols, rosemary extract, and citric acid), animal digest, potassium chloride, choline chloride, vitamins (vitamin E supplement, L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), inositol, niacin supplement, vitamin A supplement, d-calcium pantothenate, thiamine mononitrate, beta-carotene, riboflavin supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity), vitamin D3 supplement, folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12 supplement), minerals (zinc proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc oxide, iron proteinate, copper sulfate, copper proteinate, manganous proteinate, manganous oxide, calcium iodate, sodium selenite), yeast culture, yucca schidigera extract.

    honeybears,

How wierd, Smokey started doing the same thing! As soon as I switched them to Inova. I'm going back to their old food. They do well on it, I just wanted something a little better.

Seebrs, that venison looks good, I will look into it.

Sam , I think Innova is so rich. And looking at some of these preium foods I think a lot of them do overkill with what they put in
