in your thoughts for a few days....I am on the verge of hysteria but my DH won't shut up and let me type.
I noticed a few days ago that Tilly is a bit thinner and on the lethargic side and not eating as heartily as she used to. So off to the vet today for some bloodwork. Tilly will be 7 in October.
Her white blood cells and red blood cells count were on the low side - no panic-mode low, but low nonetheless. This indicates a viral infection....and possibly dry FIP - not a good thing.
I have to take her back to the vet tomorrow morning for more bloodletting and they send the blood off to the lab for further testing to see what it is. FIP is very difficult to diagnose.
All my cats were tested a year ago in order for me to foster and they were all negative. The question is did she get this from a foster? She's always been 100% inside only so that would be the only way she could have contacted it. All fosters are also tested prior to coming into the Siamese Rescue program...but yes from my reading it is quite possible to get false negatives for FIP.
I am trying to maintain my composure as this could simply be a viral infection....and I'm hoping (well who wouldn't) that is all it is. But until then Tilly is being isolated in my basement (1/2 finished off) and my son's room is the 1/2 finished off part so she's not alone. we did see her eat so I now know she's eating - and also this way I will know if she's eating as my other cats won't have access to her food. If she gets "dire-rear" I'll also know it's her since she'll have the only access to the litterbox down there.
FIP is spread through feces so I've bleached all litterboxes she's had access to.
Please please keep your fingers crossed for my beautiful bluepoint girl...I won't know the test results until early next week.
Again my vet isn't saying she definitely has this - but the low counts are an indicator.

my Sadie is doing well thank you - and I remember us PMing back/forth about Nala.
She has turned 11, an age we never thought she'd make it too  and her quality of life hasn't diminished. Her vet now refers to her as the bionic dog
I get Tilly's test results on Friday...and she's acting better too
