She seems okay now, but you're wondering about her chances of survival? She's obviously not okay if you're worried. Get her to the vet asap so they can check her out! Let us know how it goes.

Hi. I'm very sorry about what happened to your kitten. This is very serious. The kitten needs to see a vet right away. You mentioned in your other post that you don't have the money to take her to a vet. In that case please take here right away to a no kill shelter and surrender her to them. They will be able to give her proper medical attention and you will not have to pay a single penny. It's not fair to the kitten to suffer or die, because you don't have money. Another option is to call your local vet or 24/hr emergency vet and see if they will work something out with you regarding your money situation.

In the future, please have the emergency vet phone number on your fridge and call or go to them first, before you post an emergency question. Secondly, your home needs to be pet proofed and all dangerous things need to be removed. I sure hope your kitty lives.

What kind of oil was this?

I would at least call a vet or the ER vet...maybe they can give you some advice over the phone if you can't bring her in.

#-o i cannot believe this kind of thing. common sense would be to take the kitten somewhere to get help...not just worry about it. where are the parents in a situation like this? arent there parents around. it seems the people who post some of these problems are young. is it that the parents just arent informed as to what is going on...or the parents dont do anything either??? :? :0011:

and the other issue is...why is the kitten allowed to be near a bucket of oil?? :m19: the responsible thing to do when you have a kitten is to kittenprooof the area of all dangerous things...and leave toilet seats down...they can drown. :-&

Lynnhaz> i totally agree with you! i follow Raz around like a hawk. And every corner is blocked off... a mouse could run free and not get lost.. course... Lex would pose a problem heh *coughs* anyways

Yes, let us know how your kitten turns out.

i was once brought a kitten that had been found under or near or in or something- was awhile ago either way, he was covered in car oil.

They had just found him so i gave him an exam and cleaned him up using Sunlight dish soap, then rinsed him really well.

i looked after him for 2 weeks after that, and he turned out fine. sad to see him go :(
