Poor Mittens, really sick

Poor Mittens. She was sneezing the other day and not acting herself and then Tuesday evening she went down hill fast.

She started throwing up and having diarrhea and wheezing and crying and having a hard time breathing, so around 1 am we took her to the Emergency Clinic.

They took Xrays and gave her a shot of fluids and thought maybe she ate something that didn't agree with her. The Xrays didn't show anything obstructing her insides. They said if she didn't improve in a couple of days, take her to her regular Vets.

She didn't improve. She wasn't throwing up or having diarrhea anymore but she would drink or eat anything. We took her to our regular Vet this morning and they said her temperature was high and that she has a type of Flu that can have stomach and intestinal problems.

So they gave her fluids and antibiotics and now we have to keep her on antibioitics for awhile.

Poor kitty. She lookes miserable. I'm hoping she will start improving soon. I feel so helpless. Socks seems confused by what is going on, too.

Poor Mittens. Hopefully with the antibiotics she'll perk up soon and start eating and drinking. Keep us posted! :(

I hope she's feeling better. I know it's been a scary couple of days now. I'll keep her in my thoughts.

Poor Mittens. Best wishes for her speedy and full recovery. Have you tried steamed baths for her?

Last night Mittens still wasn't wanting to eat so I bought a couple of baby food jars of beef and chicken (the Vet had suggested trying that). I gave her a little of the beef and she ate it all up. I gave her some again this morning and she ate that, too, and it seems to be staying down.

Mittens even drank a little water this morning. She seems to be perking up some. It feels so good to see her starting to improve.

Thanks for your well wishes. :)

I'm glad to her that she ate. I hope she gets her strength back soon.

Since Mittens has been sick....now Socks is acting strangely.

I guess since Mittens has been to the Vet, Socks doesn't like her smell anymore. Today when Mittens got close to her, she hissed at Mittens and then jumped off the bed and left the room.

They always sleep in the family at night and we had a terrible time getting Socks in there last night. She is usually ready and willing to go to bed. She didn't want to be in there with Mittens. Poor Mittens. She is just trying to get better.

If it isn't one thing, it is another. Hopefully, Socks will get used to Mittens again. Any suggestions what to do about it?

Great to hear that Mittens is better. Have you tried rubbing both with the same towel or placing a drop of vanilla on their backs or tail?

Mittens is now acting more like herself again today. She's lying on my lap right now purring while I am typing. A great improvement.

I did put a little vanilla scented lotion on her and Socks last night and it did seem to help. Now today they are both acting pretty much normal with each other (at least so far...it is still only morning).

 I'm glad that Mittens is doing better! Maybe Socks knew that Mittens was sick and just didn't want to get to close because s/he didn't want to get sick too?
