Poor Richie...now he's got roundworm

I heard him puking in the kitchen and when I walked out there he was walking away from a pinkish puddle that had spiraled up worms in it. He's had diarhea (vet tech said possibly because of the worms) and the soar under his eye near his nose has spread and looks terrible although the actual eye itself looks slightly better than it did.
He goes back to the vet on Thursday. :(

On a better note, I've been petting him daily and yesterday I was able to pet him for about 5minutes straight while he layed on his side and grabbed at the string dangling from my pajama pants and he purred so loudly. It was the first time I've heard him purr since I've had him!
    :D

Oh nern, I'm so sorry about Richie. The poor little guy has had such a rough time already and now this :(

I'll hold him in my heart Thursday. Please let us know how it goes.

I haven't been around long enough to know the story of Richie, but i hope he gets better soon! It sounds like he's pretty miserable right now.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts.
Oddly enough he's been dewormed twice in the past 2 months although the first time I got more of it on me than I got in his mouth but the second time the vet gave it to him in pill form. I guess he must have been really infested with them. Hopefully this will be the last time.

Hi Nern. Have you thought of any new possible names, yet? I hope those worms will soon be all out of his system.

Not really...I think its going to stay Richie. I call him Richie sometimes but most of the time I call him Munchkin. He responds when I call so he probably thinks his name is Munchkin so that can be his nickname I guess. LOL.

    Back from the vet....
The vet did a cytology on the skin that looks infected near his eye and found 4 types of bacteria there likely caused by the excessive tearing in that eye. She checked him for ringworm too....no ringworm thankfully. So he's on clavamox again and I have to try to wipe the area with a warm damp cloth every once in a while. Hopefully with this and the l-lysine it will clear up and stay cleared up and the drontal with take care of the worms for good. He was very good at the vet this time too. With any luck I won't have to take him there again for a while.

You're such a good mom! Richie is very fortunate to have you (and you him).

Best of luck with the medication!
