Well my husband came home from work this afternoon smiling ear to ear. And im thinking "oh know what has he gotten us into now?". Finally I asked and he asked me how I would feel about raising and training two Cane Corso puppies who belong to his friend for cattle herding...... First off im excited but also wondering who's going to pay for their food and vet care? My husband informed me that his friend will pay a monthly bill covering all the food and vet care and training. The Pups will go home on the weekends and will live with us during the week until the pups are grown and trained. I asked why his friend could'nt train these Canes himself and my husband said he knows very little about training a dog to herd cattle he's new the the whole farm thing. I finally agreed telling him that they will not get the run of the place at night and so in other words their gonna have to be crated. The only reason i agreed is I would'nt mind having Cane puppies around again, no money out of our pocket is going to it, and its not permanit in my opinion 7 dogs is enough lol. So these pups won't be here for anouther three weeks...... Wish me luck it shall be interesting.

Will they be cropped and docked or not at all? Just curious... debating about my own when I have a litter...wether or not to dock... I think I probably should for working... Not sure though... I'll visit with the buyers about it too...curious about your thoughts though.

How come a dog like a border collie is never docked yet in other breeds they say it is necessary for working? What's the difference?

They are REALLY cute pups! I like all the loose skin, LOL. I particularly like the brindle one.

I don't know if their going to be docked and cropped or not. Since it is their owners decision wether to or not it is done. When we got Ember he wasent docked or cropped but we decided to have it done. Ginger came to us older then Ember was when we got him and she was already cropped and docked.

Honestly I think it depends on the job... Boarders are herders... CC's are drovers...they move cattle but often give them a good fight if necessary as well as guardian duties...

Central Asian shepherds have a "Shepherd's Crop" on the ears and the tails are docked clear up to two vert or so... TINY tails... They are guardians and it does help for THAT... HOWEVER...Pyrs are Guardian/Drovers as well so...it's really hard to say... I don't think it's bad to do either or neither... whatever you feel is necessary for the work... I'd dock the Boerboels...does the CC standard require cropping?

BB's don't have to be docked but CAN be...
