Ok. Precious just threw up a foamy clear stuff with grass blades in it...

She's never done this before. She hasn't eaten aything today. (She's on a diet and eats in the evenings) I gave her her morning chew bone, and she hasn't touched it.

She's acting normally and drinking fine....

But coughed a bit after she threw up.

    Any suggestions?

When dogs and cats are feeling sick they will eat grass because is tickles the back of there throat and makes them vomit this is where the grass blades have come from. they do cough when they have been sick its just the normal gag reflex.

Aslong as there is no blood in the vomit then i do not see it anything to be worried about, Since she was not pregnant chances are she had a phantom this could be another factor.

I would keep an eye on her and if she does not improve then i would take her to the vets.

My dogs eat grass all the time because they like it, they seldom throw up from grass eating.
I have seen my dogs throw up that clear foamy stuff before with or with out grass and it is usually when they are over excited or overheated. Precious might have an upset stomach and and the grass eating will help but i don't think all dogs eat grass just for the puke factor.

yeah. we think she had a false prego. Her nipples inflamed a bit, but not bad. it was very mild if she did have a false pregnancy.

She's only done it once so far. I'm thinking she just drank to fast or something.

She munches on grass all the time! ever since I've had her, she'll chew on grass. She won't eat it. Just chew on piles of grass here and there... I think she likes the taste or something. I asked the vet one time and he said it was just a habbit. Some dogs do that. As long as she's not throwing up afterwords or eating it and i find it in her stool. Which I haven't. But this is the first time she's thrown up. It looks like mostly water.

I have to agree if it was mostly water then chances are she got an air bubble withher drinking so fast.

Aslong as she is ok thats the main thing.
I so wish animals could talk to tell us what is wrong i feel so helpless when my pets are ill with not knowing.

I just got finished running through some training with Kabuki and snapping some pics... she seemed fine. Doing her usual whining and pouting and trying to open her gate while I was working with Buki.

    This.

I argue all the time that Floob isn't feeling unwell, he just likes it. I used to worry that he'd eat grass, wild grass especially, but he next to never pukes so he obviously likes it for other reasons.

I know for a fact that one reason he eats it is when he's thirsty. If we've been out for longer than I expected and don't have any water for him he'll tear up grass and munch it along the way.

Jake only eats grass when he doesnt feel good and then throws it up.

I also read somewhere that another reason dogs eat grass is they are missing nutrients in their diet and they know this and eat it because it fills the void. Sounds pretty far fetched though

well so far she's only done it once. Kabuki on the other hand has torn up a WHOLE pile of grass!!! LOL.. She doesn't eat it... just rips it up and chews on it. But she doesn't throw up afterwords.
