Hubby and I met with one more breeder this past Saturday.. we were very happy with her AND we picked out our 2 new babies!

So..... time to prepare for their arrival....

Any suggestions? What are the "must haves"? Any advice on what you did/bought would be much appreciated ~ I'm going to start a list so that I am as prepared as I can be!! :D

Lets see if I can be of any help here, if not sorry! lol

If you plan on crate training two crates
    collars
    leashes
    bedding
ticking clock, (in case they cant sleep but this may not be a problem since you are getting two)
    bowls
    food
    treats
    puppy first aid kit
    TOYS!!!
ok this is all I could come up with which I am sure you have already thought of most of these things!

Thank you! I forgot all about the ticking clock, thanks! Maybe I won't need it since I'll have 2, but it may help

    :D

Eww just thought of something for your carpet not the puppies. You might want to get some really good carpet cleaner to get those little stains out and maybe some puppy pads. I bought this oxy clean spray the other week that has worked really well for accidents and it actually removes the smell which had been one of my biggest problems.

    WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!

The countdown to their arrival home is on!

Things to add from previous posts:

-vet (I know you can't buy one...although, that would be nice! Just check a few out in your area and decide on one.)
    -brush
    -shampoo & conditioner
    -nail clippers
-toothbrush and toothpaste (it is a GREAT idea to get them used to it early on)
-gate if you plan on using the "gating method" instead of crate training (I HIGHLY recommend swinging gates...they are WONDERFUL)
    -chews

That is all I can think of for now...I'll be sure to add on if I think of any more! :D

I'm sure others will think of more as well!

Ticking clocks are a GREAT suggestion, but like you said, since you will have two, and I assume that they will sleep together, you probably won't need it!

    hehe...

I also should have mentioned my LIFESAVER! The "little green clean machine" (By Bissell)... it is PERFECT for quick little spot cleaning!! In the beginning Bailey was quite the "puker".... (sorry gang! LOL) .... and between that and the "other" accidents... The Little Green machine SAVED my carpet!! They have a version of cleaner just for pet spots -- it works great! I also read that someone used the Nature's Miracle in their machine and it worked great.

OH! And make sure you buy some "Bitter Apple" for the chewing! THAT STUFF IS THE BOMB!!! Works grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

    Nutri cal or honey
baby blankets or quilts (mine are spoiled )
    gatorade or pedialite
lots of stuffed animals (large ones so they can play and sleep on them )
if there is a K-mart near you they have some really big ones that my puppies love !
    and many more .....
EXTRA radio so they can have one too
HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE ....YOU got your poos !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for the great suggestions ~ keep them coming if you think of more!

Monster ~ I know you know the colors of my babies now...... but, I'll put it here for everyone to see too!

One shih poo is brindle (brown w/black mixed in) and the other one is all black with white socks (she also has a small white stripe in between her eyes going up to her forehead)!!! SO CUTE!

I can't wait to get them & post pics!

If you have a dog already, bring something, perhaps a blaket with its smell on it. If not dis-reguard.

Thanks Puttin ~ I don't have any other dogs.. but, my hubby thought maybe giving the pups a blanket (or something) with our smell on it might help? Think it might?

I think it would give the puppy a more secure feeling to get to know your smells before hand. Thus making his trip home not so stressed.

Speaking of blankets and smells, I have heard that it is a good idea to bring a blanket to the breeder and "rub" it on the pups' parents to get their scent on the blanket, and bring that blanket home with you. Apparently, the blanket scented with the mother and father's "smell" will help in comforting your puppies.

I know ilovemaltipoos is a breeder, so maybe she can verify if this is true or not! (Paging Malti, paging Malti! LOL  )

I didn't hear of it until after I brought my pups home, but it may be something you want to think about doing! :D

If the puppy just came from mom it is too young to go anyway .So that is a good idea .Usually though a good breeder will give you a stuffed animal or a blankie /towel with smells of playmates and themselves on it .A puppy ready to go has been socialized and has began to think of the breeder /caretaker as mom ,so a good rub on the breeders and let all puppies play with it for a day or two is never a bad idea .

MALTI HAS BEEN PAGED ! LOL ! :0020:
