    HI All,

I've written about this before, but I recently moved Henry's litterbox next door to our office. Its previous location was in a room that is now becoming the nursery. He has been using the litterbox in the new room, except for a few accidents. We keep the room to the nursery closed--no furniture is set up yet--and he meows constantly to get in. I'm about to give in. Is this a bad idea? If I let him in, do you think it might help with his using outside the litterbox?

    Thanks!

Why don't you want the cat in the room that will be the nursery? I probably wouldn't put a litterbox in a nursery but I wouldn't try to keep the cat out either.

Hi. You could also try putting out more than one litter box in different areas/rooms. Here is a good link for your situation. You have to scroll down 3/4 of the way, until you see: CATS AND BABIES. Lot's of good info here. Good luck. :D

Hi jillphilly, I can't help you but I sympathise with you I'm having similar problems! Before Dusty had the babes she went outside for the loo, when we had to keep her in up to the birth I had to give her a tray, the kittens are 4 weeks now and Dusty has been going outside again for a couple of weeks but she won't go to the loo out there, she comes back in and uses the tray!! The other day I thought I'd try without the tray in the house and put it just outside the back door which has a cat flap in it and she pee'd in the dogs bed so I had to bring the tray back in again!! Any possible solutions would be welcome!!

you do know your cat can get pregnant again once the kittens are weaned...any chance you'll be spaying her?

I wonder if she's protecting her kittens...maybe she understands that inside animals aren't going to smell her waste but if she's outside they might. That's why cats bury their waste so other animals can't smell it...maybe she feels she's protecting the kittens somehow

Hi Mary, that's a good thought about the predation! Yep she will be spayed - vet said no worries to let her out now, he say's she will go into heat about 7 day's after she finishes producing milk and to book her in then, he say's there's a slim chance she will have caught on but he will take care of that with the spaying. Timing is the main thing, I will book her in as soon weaning is complete. I wouldn't dream of not having her done, I wouldn't want to put her through all of this again - or us for that matter!! (It's been lovely but pretty demanding and also quite worrying!) And there's also the issue of homing another litter which would not be so easy a second time I suspect.

BTW we have decided that we will keep the boy :D
