    FROM A CAT'S DAILY DIARY
Day 183 of My Captivity: My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild scolding I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture.

Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant. Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded. Must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favourite chair; must try this on their bed.

Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was. Hmmm, not working according to plan.

There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary confinement throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More importantly, I overheard that my confinement was due to my power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I can wait; it is only a matter of time.

    Cats RULE!! woof woof

:D I've seen this one before...it still makes me laugh.

Every time we go up the steps, my husband thinks about the part where the cat must try to do it on the stairs because Lexi stops right in front of you and you almost fall trying not to step on her.

    Lighten up.....
I am totally more a dog person than a cat person (sorry  ) but I do believe that cats are more....well...how can I put this, Ive been training dogs for years, they do what I want when I want....but cats  they have their own 'rules' and while Ive seen quite a few 'trained' cats I think that they 'oblige' us humans when and if it suits them. Amazing creatures.

I locked myself out one day, as I was trying all the windows my dogs were happily jumping up and getting excited at the thought of me coming back home (never occured to me to teach them how to unlock the door!!!!) and theres Macca, one of the cats, sitting at the Slated window....for about 20 minutes, Im sure the whole drama of me struggling to open windows and open doors was highly amusing for him and Spook (my other cat) finally as I was at a slated window I pointed to the lever that would open it, not thinking for a minute he would have any clue what I was doing.....but I'll be darned if he didnt put his paw on the lever and push down, the window opened and I got back in.....to use an old Liverpool phrase...."I was gobsmacked!!!"

Hey, I didn't mean anything insulting about it. I just thought it was funny. And in my experience, dogs are doppy and easy to train and cats in contrast are independant and hard to train. In contrast, cats train us. The humor is in the juxtaposing of the two.

But once you have to explain the joke...it's lost

Yes...I was totally stunned that he did that....the only thing I ever 'trained' him to do was eat his food and use the litter box

Cassie....for what its worth...I thought it was funny

That really is amazing...I think both dogs and cats are underestimated intellectually but it's fun to poke fun back and forth :D

well maybe not intellectually, but instinctually and partly intellectual and/or a mix of both. Like some people are really smart but totaly lack social skills LOL

I love that! And I love your story Delauk!! After hearing that and the story about Moe opening the Pounce container, I bet cats would make great assistant animals for a disabled person. If we could only train them to do what WE want...

I can't even train my dogs though. I am only the staff around here.

love that joke! And love the cat-opening-the-window story! I really don't think Ninja and Tobey would ever do that though!
