Freaking redneck morons!! That's only a couple hours from me, but what can I do?? Anyone have any ideas?

There are so many different breeds. Contact each breed rescue individually? Arrrrrgh!!! :x

Jamiya, if I could afford the plane ticket, I'd be there in a heart beat!!! I've already contacted several of the rescue groups up there. I haven't gotten a response on any of them. The only thing I can say to do is go there, and try to talk them into donating as many dogs as they can for rescue.

When doing something like that, you've got to be very careful. Be very nice about it. and Don't tick them off. If they don't cooperate, You can get the police invlolved. Didn't you say there was a Humane society close by??? I would contact them if you can!!!

This part of the country is FULL of puppy mills. There's one around every corner. I can do my best, but why would they donate them when they think they have loved and cared for all these dogs? They don't think they've done anything wrong and there's no way to make them see it.

Did you see they have papillons? Yorkies, too. I wish I had room for more dogs. :(

God I wish I could fly up there!!!!

You'd think by telling them that the dogs would go to good homes, be spayed and neutered they would say ok....
What are they going to do with the dogs that don't sell? thats what I want to know!

From what I understand, James and Ann are auctioning off their farms, houses, kennel equipment, and personal belongings to retire and move to Texas. They're just selling the dogs, they're not included in the auction.

But what's so disgusting is they are selling off their kennel equipment and dogs to anyone who wants to buy. They don't really discriminate who buys. They state that many of the dogs have puppies or have been bred so whomever buys these dogs will have puppies ready for the Christmas Market. This just leaves the door open for any "Joe Blow" who wants to make some X-Mas money to buy these dogs, buy kennel equipment, and breed them at will. They basically just want the money from their kennels and can give 2 craps about where the dogs end up. Just as long as they can retire.

Under their terms all they wanted is that they pay with valid checks with proper ID, not if the buyers were qualified in breeding.

Like Sams says, what happens to the dogs that don't sell? Have a "Blue Light Special"? I hate to see dogs treated like they're nothing but a commodity!

Ummm, well I already burned my bridges with my regular e-mail address with a knee-jerk reaction...

So, I just used my hotmail account to send an inquiry to the "breeder" about some of the dogs for sale. Then I casually mentioned breed rescue and asked what will happen to the dogs that don't get sold and offered to supply contact information if she needs it.

I'll let you know if she replies.

Sams, what do you think you could accomplish if you were able to go to the auction? What would you do?

Well if I could get there, I'd try to talk to them and see if they would surrender (but use a lighter term) some of the dogs that need the most help. (Older, any that look ill or mistreated, bred, or handi cap) If they refused and I see that there were living in horrible conditions, I'llget ahold of the police and animal control. If they don't cooperate, the dogs look like they were living in "acceptable" conditions I'll try to buy what I can and see what I can do. I don't have much $$ but I'm sure I can come up with some somewhere.
Once I've got them, I'll try and bring them back home. Vetchecked first. If I can't bring them all back home, I'll see about placing them in rescues around there.

I got a reply from one of the rescue organizations:

    Stated quite plainly.

"We know of this problem, but due to our overfilling kennels, there's not much we can do. We will however contact other organizations around this area. Thank you for your concern."

The dogs are included in the auction, or at least that's what the site says. I wonder how much they generally go for?

I don't know. I'm going to send them an email asking for prices bought before auction time, and what they think they will go for. I set up an anoynmous email through Yahoo. Mare-Majic1@yahoo.com...we'llsee what they say....

I hope they reply. I'm thinking maybe I can foster some little ones until rescues can place them?? My husband might flip, but we'll see...

:cry:This is so sad. I don't even know what to say!!! It's not just the fact that there are way too many dogs for one establishment to look after and breed, but I really feel for all the dogs who need to find loving homes. And not just any home. A home that will care for them properly and not neglet or just get rid of them when the novelty wears off. This is a puppy factory. They are not merchandise!!!!!!!! And those poor dogs who are kept there to breed, what sort of lives do they have???

Look forward to updates. It's so fraustrating that when you see something thats so obviously wrong and nothing is done about it. Don't we teach our children that when you do something bad you get punished for it?

If you read the rest of the ad, you see that everyone raves about what wonderful, nice people they are and how the woman loves her dogs. Oh, and what quality puppies she produces. They REALLY don't think they are doing anything wrong. People suck.

Hey, she added more info about the dogs. I'll have to go look at it more closely.

What I also hate is the "State Professional Pet Producer Organizations" statement. What a horrible organization! They might as well be called the "State Professional Puppy Killer and Dog Destroyer Organizations."

    Here's one - a Great Pyr:

I am assuming that means she was born in 1996....and ONLY bred once YEARLY! For pete's sake! So she has had 7-8 litters so far?! And that implies others are bred more than once yearly.

No wonder there are so many homeless and abused dogs in the world.
