Pygmy cories????

Have I finally found pygmy cories? These were in a tank labelled corydoras mestae (could be off on the spelling) but look nothing like the pictures that come up of "bandit cories" when I google that name. So, do these look like pygmy's to you, they kinda sorta do to me. Also, they are just under 1/2" long right now.

    Thank you!

a lot of lfs will put fish in the wrong tank names. they will only do this if the fish are from the same fish species. like play and platy tetra and tetra cories and cories. this can be a dangerous mistake for the fish because although they might be from the same group they have diff. requirements.

Those definitely look like my pygmy cories.

There's actually 3 species called "pygmy cory." C. habrosus, C. pygmaeus, and C. hastatus. Mine are C. habrosus which is the largest of the 3 and get about 1 1/2".

Thanks! I looked up those scientific names and mine do resemble c. habrosus a lot. I'm glad they are a form of pygmy's as I paid $4.99 each for them!!!! I just have a problem with a $5 fish that's less than 1/2" long for some reason...

I think I'll keep these in the five gallon once the baby guppies are gone. Would they be ok in there, along with my betta?

Are there just the 2 cories? If so, then yes, a 5 gallon with them and a betta should be fine.

Actually there are three. But they like to school with my pandas so I'm thinking it might be cruel to separate them into different tanks. Don't want psychologically damaged cories! But I'm thinking I might leave the betta in the big 29 gallon tank because he's become a good boyfriend to my female; its so cute! So, I might take the three cories and two of my grown up guppy males to live in there. But I'm sure it'll change by the time I'm ready to do anything.

    Thank you :D
