Question about a noise called trilling....

I just learned today that the noise Annie makes when she is excited or anxious is called trilling and that Springer Spaniels do this...does anyone know of other breeds that do this?

Natalie makes very strange noises that sound like a bird when she gets really excited. I wonder if that would be considered trilling?

Labs don't trill, they squeak. Very irritation when in a car. :D

What about the dog pictured with Duke..Freckles(?) I think? Does she trill?

Freckles is a very quiet dog even when excited. He usually only barks when Duke barks and the tennis ball in his mouth usually acts as a muffler. :D
Though I believe he has a lot of Spaniel in his genes I have never heard him make any other sound besides a sharp bark.
A co-worker here has a Springer and he said that Max does make a sort of yodeling sound.

What type noise is it exactly? Luther only has variations of barks. He has his someones at the door bark, let me in bark, let me out bark, and the I am too excited to control myself barking like a puppy bc another dog walked by too far away for him to sniff bark, which he just recently started doing.

This is like a fluttering tone. I don't know how else to decribe it...thats as accurate as I can get. It is a little high pitched. She is a very vocal dog, but this is a sound she only makes when she is very anxious or excited. Like if her and Witt have a spat and I pull her away she makes the sound sort of in frustration and hightened excitement. She made it yesterday while being upset over her nails being trimmed, she was in fight mode somewhere between being scared and being obstinate. The groomer told me that it was called trilling and that Springer Spaniels do it.
Annie also does this if the kids or Shawn and I are wrestling around or play fighting...she tries to break it up, she always forces herself between us wiggling wildly, half barking half trilling.

Lot's of dogs trill. My dachshund trills when he sees a cat outside. I don't think it's a breed thing, just an individual dog thing. But I've noticed most Basenji mixes trill a lot, and so do coyote/dog crosses.
