Question about the Furminator

Does anyone own a furminator, and how do you like it? I am thinking about buying one this week, and wondered if it does as well as they say it does. I have 4 longhaired cats, and 1 short hair, and am constantly vacuming and wiping the fur from everywhere. My 15 yr. old cat Boo has a real hard time grooming herself anymore, and has problems occasionly with matting, and I was hoping this tool might help.

I'm curious what other people think, too.

I have one but I'm used to my trusty old comb so I feel more comfortable using the comb.

To me it seemed like the Furminator was cutting the fur. Just my opinion.

The furminator is really efficient, but I haven't made up my mind whether or not I think it was worth that much money. Like I said, it's efficient, but I think it's hard to use... That may be because I'm only allowed to brush my cat when he is lying in his basket, and the sides of the basket are in the way (don't know if that is the correct term..) for the handle on the furminator.

What I really love though is the Zoom Groom :D have you tried that?

Nano, when I saw this post I thought furminator was a nickname for one of your cats.

I haven't used a furminator and don't know of anyone who has tried it. Let us know if you get one.

i bought one a while ago and i use it every 2 weeks on both my cats (short haired and medium haired). it works really well. it gets alot of hair out and my cats feel so soft afterwords. the only problem with it is that when too much hair comes out of my medium haired cat, it flies everywhere. so i started brushing him outside in the back yard, which was alot better. i really like it and my cats dont seem to mind it.

I have one and would rather use the Zoom Groom on both the cats and my dog

Pumpkin, Monty, and Rene lives for the Furminator. Milo prefers the more gentle Zoom Groom. Actually, he doesn't like getting groomed at all. I found a really good deal on ebay. It's very pricey but sometimes you can find excellent deals on one there.
