I'm roating a chicken tonight and i've got the leftover raw neck and giblets that i was going to throw out, but I thought it might be a good treat for Annie. Is this safe to feed her as a treat? She's on Nutro, but next year when we get out of this apartment and into a house i'm hoping to switch to raw ( Yay for backyards!)

I feed raw, but I do prepackaged, Its safe but I dont know about her tummy since she has never had anything like it it might be too rich

but then a chicken neck isnt very big, maybe try it and put the giblets in the freezer for another day or just put everything in the freezer until you get a good enough asnwer

hopefully someone else can chime in here

They would be a nice treat for her. Sometimes too much organ meats at once can cause the runs in a dog not used to it, but chickens really don't have very big giblets. :)

I'm sure Annie would love them!

Ok, so I plopped all the chicken in her bowl last night and did the usual sit and wait before she got her food. I released her and she rushed over, sniffed it, and looked up like "you really expect me to eat this?" So i encouraged her to try it for a bit..no luck...so I tried to pick it up and give it to her(eww..slimy chicken)...a couple polite licks, but still no interest. So, I decided to leave it out for a little while...nothing...so I just ended up throwing it away. Is this normal? I given her raw beef and pork with bones before and she LOVES it.

well chicken looks a bit different then beef or pork so that might have thrown her off. I don't know she might simply not like raw chicken. Thats like Shine I usually give my dogs turkey necks and backs and they all love it except her. So yeah I would say its normal.

Nala didn't like liver the first few times I gave it to her, so I froze it and then she slurped it down. I don't have to freeze it anymore, though.
