I was wondering whats the cost to have a male dog fixed now adays?

My friend is haveing her 6 month old female fixed this comeing thursdays and they are keeping the dog overnight and the cost is $375.80 Canadian.

Are male dogs about the same or cheaper?

    thanks

    Dave

males are cheaper because they dont normally stay overnight and the procedure is less invasive, not sure how much though since its been years since I had it done

So your in Canada....is the dollar rate about the same as US? If so that sounds like a lot if its a straight forward spay. Most places I know of (around LA) do low cost spays and neuters due to overpopulation....maybe its different in Canada. :?

When I got my dog neutered a few years back, they said it would be nearly 2x as much for a girl, ranging from $30 for a male & 70 for female to 50 (m) & 150 (f). But I got him neutered through the Angel of Assissi Spay shuttle for a really low cost.

As others have said, it is alot cheaper for a male dog to get the snip.
Here, the rates are based on the size of dog. For example, Floob as a medium dog was £90... small dogs are £70 and so on up to £130 for a very large breed.

    It's worth every penny.

The cost also depends on things like whether you do a pre-surgical blood panel (I would) and what kind of surgery they do. Many vets can do laser surgery now which is easier on the dog but more expensive to perform.
