    Hi,

Today I rescued a week old kitten who was living in a bag of leaves and twigs. His mother was coming back to him ocassionally, but had been scared off by the dogs who lived in the house where the kitten was found. I warmed the kitten up as he was pretty cold and obviously lonely there all by himself, and luckily the mother was trapped 2 hours later and they've now been reunited and are safe.

I think we'll be having the kitten when he's a bit older. I feel so attached to him, being the first human to have picked him up and cuddled him - I fell in love with him! I'm slightly worried about my 13 yr old cat, especially as she is on a different diet than what I would feed another cat, but we'll figure it out.

Had the mother not come back I'd probably be sitting here giving kitty his bottle now! Aah, it breaks my heart to think about how many cats are having kittens this time of year, and how many shouldn't be. I so wish people would have their cats neutered, then there wouldn't be this problem of so many cats with no home.

Anyway, I could go on for hours about that. But this one's a happy story so far, at least mother and baby are safe and warm.

Lucky kittys....and lucky you....have you raised week old kittens before...I have and its not easy...to say nothing of the lack of sleep, I actually found it much easier to raise newly hatched baby birds that are smaller than a golf ball

glad you found this baby and its momma was trapped. Are they at your home or in a shelter? Have you chosen a name yet?

Well things are not so good as we thought. Mum has rejected her baby and is so frightened. She's not eaten, not used the litter tray, wouldn't feed baby and literally hasn't moved.

I'll be hand rearing the little one from tuesday on. It'll be fine - my son didn't sleep through the night til he was 3 years old so I'll manage the next few weeks!

I'm just worried about what will happen to the Mum. She's in the cat shelter but terrified. There's a very small chance a farm will take her once she's neutered. I hope they do.

Wish me luck with 'Horatio' - my 6 yr old son chose the name. Better than his initial choice, Gnasher!! We can't wait til tuesday now!!

That is a sad story. It is great that you stepped in to help.
Good luck with the kitten and hope the mommy cat improves and finds a good home.
