Scaly face / mites

I suspect that my parakeet has scaly face (mites). What is the best course of action to take? And also, how often should I be bathing my bird? Thanks for any help.

 

When I bought Kiwi he had scaly face. I treated him with petrolium jelly (vasaline) twice a day for a week. You can also use mineral oil.

I mist my birds about once a week.

 

Hi i have added a link about scaly face mites hope this helps you out a little.

Vasaline and creams like that rubbed into the affected area seals it and this then suffacates the mites.
