Sebastian was a nervous wreck camping!

I took both dogs camping with me this weekend and poor Sebastian was a shaking, whining nevrous wreck. Natalie is the complete opposite but she's been going camping with me every year since she was 8 months old. I took them tent camping last month and Sebastian was nervous the first night but much better the next. This time I stayed in a cabin and he was more nervous than he was the last time. I was really regretting bringing him along, I think he would have been better off staying home.

Any ideas on desensitizing a dog to going camping?? I really like bringing him but I don't think he enjoyed it at all. This was the first year I brought him and his first time ever camping. Before this year I just left him home and had my downstairs neighbor (who he is familiar with) check in on him, feed him and let him outside throughout the weekend but he had a seizure while I was gone the last time last year so I worried about leaving him again. I was thinking of getting one of those carriers (like a back pack that you wear on the front) so that I could just carry him around with me but I'm not sure I would like to carry him around all weekend.
BTW, he missed out on early experiences and socialization and I trully believe this is a factor in his inability to adjust to minor changes.
I'm done camping for the year so I have some time to think about it.
