hi, my puppy turned 8 months old this week.... the vet says that she's loosing her puppy coat right now......the amount of hair she's shedding is amazing...she lays on the couch for 5 minutes and the seat is covered in so much hair.....is this normal?when i run my hand over her body i can litterally take away a hair ball... even tho the vet says its normal i'm still worried

What breed of dog is she? When my Pekingese started losing her puppy coat I freaked out to. I had never had a longhaired/fluffy dog before so I had never experienced so much shedding! OMG she shed enough to make two of her!

when my dog moults i can pull of balls of hair too. i have 3 shopping baggs full of her fur at the moment, which i plan to wash, dye and get spun [lol!]. your dog is fine, unless you start to see bald patches.

Yep, we just went through this with our dog. I'm happy to say, it's getting better now.

I just took her outside and brushed her with a shedding blade every day, even though I could have brushed all day and still been getting more fur out. I felt like I wasn't accomplishing anything at all, but she seems better now. And she doesn't even have a long coat!

You might try a professional groomer to give her a good bath and use a forced air dryer to really blow that coat out. They have special brushes, too, that help to get more hair out.

Good luck, and hang in there! I also bought a small vacuum that lives in the corner of the family room where the dogs spend most of their time. I can wisk it out and vacuum the one room quickly and it helps keep things under control.

she's a shepard/pit mix and has very short hair..........it's just amazing the amount that is coming off her....just had her outside brushing her and all you could see was hair blowing in the wind lol

I feel for you. I have a husky who has been shedding oh forever now! I brush he out once a day with a shedding blade and everyday I pull enough hair from her to cover a short haired dog. I think we finally have the sides of her all done, now the rest! Uggg it never ends. By the time she is done it will be time for her to grow her winter coat back! What was I thinking owning three long haired dogs.
